Kathy Orta’s Hybrid Mini By Debi Schnabel

I’m baaack!! LOL! I was asked by Carol and Barrie of Scrapadabadoo Crafts to revisit one of Kathy Orta’s earlier mini album tutorials. I chose her Hybrid Mini, this is pre-hidden hinge. (You can find this and many more tutorials here.)This is a really quick and easy project with a lot of WOW!
On one side you have a shadowbox and on the other side a mini album, all in one. I didn’t video myself making this project because it isn’t my tutorial, but I wanted to share with all of you my finished album.
You can watch the video of my finished album here.
I used the BoBunny Somewhere in Time Collection. All supplies can be found at Scrapadabadoo Crafts.

I used the papers in the BoBunny Somewhere In Time Epehemra pack for the front, back and spine.I just love the vintage look of them.

For the closure I used a scrap piece of my Tim Holtz Measuring Tape Ribbon and Velcro.

Here is a look at it opened just part way. You can see the shadowbox on the left and the album in on the right.

I added bits of my faux sea glass, trinkets and some of the layered chipboard inside. On the inside spine I used the large gears from the Noteworthy collection. I used the Noteworthy Collection throughout the album.

On the left is the cover that lays against the shadowbox. I LOVE the corset! On the right I took the owl from the Noteworthy collection and backed it with black cardstock and trimmed around it leaving a slight boarder. I then covered it with Glossy Accents and let it dry overnight. Once it was completely dried I punched out the two holes by the wings and made a tie out of ribbon for him. I applied glue down the center back, top to bottom and stuck him down to the page. This will now hold tags behind both his wings.

Each page has a small pocket flap and a large pocket on the front. And a large pocket on the back.

After covering all of my pages I used the leftovers for photo mats and tags. On the right you can see I cut 1/2 inch strips and made a design on a piece of cardstock I ran through my Xyron sticker maker. I made a few more as well.

As you will see, this album is not heavily embellished at all, but I really like it.

Love the Hot Air Balloons! And here is another paper pieced mat/tag.

I just love the Layered Chipboard Balloon!
