Box #4

This box was created by Emma and I love her creativity. Emma’s inspiration for her box was Marti Gras. She used a gloss card stock and then some Ranger alcohol inks. She then stamped the one side with archival ink and then embellished it with the feathers, buttons and metal letter. I think she did a great job and it’s so different from the other boxes! Great Job Emma and thanks for playing!!

Kaiser Craft Shelf With Boxes

From This

To This

We ordered these shelves back in January at CHA and due to their popularity they have been on back order until now. We got them in last week and I was chomping at the bit to get mine decorated. I really didn't have a plan when I started but knew I had to use the Jades Garden Paper Pack that we have available in the store. I started out by painting the box with Suede Glimmer mist, and was very pleased on how it took to the MDF... It shimmers and shines and really didn't take a whole lot of the GM to get it covered. Then I decided that I would cut the paper for the boxes as close to being the full sheet as I could and then put them onto the boxes in order so that the pattern would flow across the front. I covered back and sides of the little boxes with coordinating Bazzill papers, by simply cutting the papers to 2 1/2" by 12" and then just gluing it all the way around. I distressed the papers using the Rusty Hinge Distress Inks, and then glued the papers to the boxes using my beloved pioneer glue stick. I found the Knobs at JoAnn Fabrics and also painted them with the GM and distressed them with the Rusty Hinge too. I used my cropadile to punch holes in the boxes and then hot melted brads to the insides of the knobs (they have holes in the back of them) and then attached them to the boxes with the brad and a little bit of hot melt just to keep them very secure. Some of the flowers on the top are made with the Sizzix Flower Layers #5 Die (this is on back order with Sizzix) and then added a few of the misc flowers , Leaves and stringed beads I had in my stash. Around the top edge I used some of the new Prima Lace we just added to our website, and a birds nest that I found at our local craft store as well as the bird and the eggs in the nest. This whole project took me less than a day to do, and I am thinking that I am going to save it for my sisters Christmas Gift as she is a bird lover to the max.... We have the box, the Glimmer Mist, the Distress Ink, the lace, the glue stick and the Paper Pack all available in the store. Wouldn't this make a great project to do for a baby's room too? Just change the papers and use the boxes to store all of babies little gitchy goo's (that's a Barrie phrase).
Anyway, thanks for checking this out and I hope your Wednesday is full of kicks and giggles!!!

Box #3

Traci did a marvelous job on her box. Aren't the colors just yummy! I love brown, pearls and lace so this is right up my alley!! Traci was most impressed with the fact that it still resembled a box even if she does have a little one that isn't quite 3 yet.We pat her on the back for that too!! The item she used are : Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Prima flowers and pearls, Scrapadabadoo charms, Tim Holtz film strip, Stampin Up! flower, and Shabby Green Door paper. ok, your turn!

Our Second Box

Brenda did a fabulous job on the box challenge! I love the pearls and the flowers and well just all of it. This box is so wonderful to use as you can make it for any thing you want. I Know these girls have admitted to how easy the box was to make, and that they will be making more now that they have the first one under their belt. Brenda will be getting the box Leslie made since she is the first one to submit her photo!! Congrats Brenda... So... are you working on yours?

Yesterday was a great day for me, as one of our customers, Leslie, who is also a face book buddie, came up to visit. She lives about an hour Southeast of me, and we have been chatting for the last few months. She ordered some items from the store and instead of me shipping them she came to visit and pick them up. She brought her adorable daughter Mia, and her father Frank, who my hubbie enjoyed visiting with, and she also brought me the most amazing scones.... We can not wait to get together again, and this time we plan on doing some scrapping!!
Leslie and Brenda will also be doing some projects for us in the near future and we are excited to see what they do. You are also welcome to send us pictures of what you are making with the items you purchase from us, and we will post those pictures on our blog as well as in the store gallery!
We also have our order of glimmer mist in and for sale in the store. While your there, check out the new paper packs from Kaiser, the home decor items, the new prima lace, and we do still have a few of the paper kits left, but not many.
Well I hope you all have a wonderful Monday, and that today the beauty of spring inspires you to create!!

First Box Picture..Send us more !

Here is a photo of the box Leslie Cranwill made with the template from our April Showers post. She is so very talented and is even offering to send her box to you when you either send us your box pictures to post or post a link to it here. This box is super easy and once you make one you will want to make a dozen and since Mother's day is just around the corner, this would make a perfect gift filled with Mom's favorite tea, a gift card or ????

Look for the April Showers post, click on the template picture and then save to your computer. When you print, make sure you change your print settings to fit page, so that this template will be about the size of your paper. It will look like it is printing off the edge, but that's the way it is so no worries ! Have fun and let the creating begin!

Sizzix Tea Cup

I just finished the sample for the Sizzix Tea Cup, and another great beyond the page product(shelf)from Kaiser Craft. These tea cups are adorable and would be great for a wedding shower decoration, a Mother's Day Tea, and I can picture a little girls Tea Party and the cups filled with hair goodies for each girl, or even sweets. We will be selling the tea cup cut outs in our store coming soon! I also used the 3-D flower die for the flowers, and the sizzix flourish die(sizzlit die) I love the 3-D flower and it is so easy to make with the diecut!!

Sketches

Gosh, it seems like forever since I have updated the blog but I have been super busy. We just built a shop for my husband as he is a wood worker and his tools have been in different places all over the house and garage. I have so many things I want him to do, but it is impossible to motivate him with out a dedicated work space. I also have another reason for the shop, and that is, I need his room (man cave) for a dedicated shipping room for our store. I now have most of the things all in one place, but need a few more shelves built to hold our great products(a reason for the shop). And of course once you start the cleaning, you can't just stop with one room you have to get them all!! So, my spring cleaning is done, and I am looking forward to being able to find everything I need.
I have also wanted to do some sketches as I have found them to be fun to follow and gives me some ideas when I am stuck. I found a program to get me started with, and although its not exactly what I was hoping to find, it will work for now. I will be posting some layouts as well as some card sketches, Let me know what you think, if you use the sketch please post them here or on facebook. We really want this to be a user friendly place !
OH... I could not wait until Mother's day to give my mom the sister's trifold that I made her. She loves it and I am so glad to have been able to make it for her. We are going to go and get my aunt and bring her up to spend some time with us, and so I am going to be busy making another one for her to take home with her.
Hope you all have a great day, and if the sun is out in your area enjoy it, and if its raining there like it is here, do like I do and make your own sunshine :=)

A Gift For Mom

This week we said good bye to my Uncle John, he was my mother's sister's Husband. We drove down to Vancouver Washington for the Memorial and it was a very nice service, and we were able to reconnect with family members that we do not often see.
I got some great family shots and when I looked at them I knew I had to do something special with the ones of my mom and her sister. As they have aged, they do not get to be together as often as they use to, and I want Mom to remember their time together.
I have had these trifold Paper Mache domes and thought that it would be the perfect back ground to use. I first sprayed the trifold with some Maya Mist, Carnation Pink, and then Sprayed over that with metallic Lime. I inked the edges with Rusty Hinge Distress ink, and then cut the paper, Devonshire by Kaiser Craft and mod poged it onto the trifold. Then I just junked it up with some Tim Holtz Die cuts,Petaloo Paintables, A Butterfly from Michael's, mini roses from Prima, Leaves from Prima(sprayed with Maya Mist, Lime) self adhesive pearls, rub on and chipboard alphabets from American crafts, and Lace from Prima. I printed out the saying using vellum (hint when printing on vellum change your print settings to a fast draft or quick print, and it will dry quickly and not smear).
I am planning on giving this to my mom for mothers day, and if anyone is interested in the trifolds I will have them in the store early next week, as they will really make a great mother's day gift. Hope your having a great week end... I am

Custom Dies

A Week ago, I received two custom dies that Barrie ordered for us, and I just love them. They are 6x6 dies, one with a scallop edge, and the other with a lace scallop edge. They will both make great mini books, but just to use them I decided to do a wall hanging with one of them to put a couple recent pictures of my Granddaughter on. I had a ton of fun making this and I am sure every time I look at it, I will have to smile just remembering how much fun she and I had that day. I used some of the eline flowers, sprayed with the Maya mists, eline pearls cut apart and used in different places, the alphabet is Sugar Sweet from Quickutz, paper is from Basic Grey, Lace is from our website www.scrapadabadoo.com and the ribbon is from May Arts. Also the crystals are the ones that we use in our kits, and they sure do sparkle.. real crystals have a great touch to any project.
Thanks for visiting, and please leave us a quick note to let us know what you have been up to in your crafting ventures! We love to see your stuff.

April Showers

I love spring but it has yet to arrive here in Seattle. We have not had any kind of yard work weather for a while and I am really ready to go out and play in the dirt. I received a gift certificate to one of the local nurseries and I am waiting for some sunshine before I go and make my selections. I have several planters that need to be planted and I tend to generate to geraniums, snapdragons, lobillia, and a few other upright and trailing plants. The colors of some of these just make my heart sing. Are any of you enjoying spring flowers, plants in bloom, or are you still burried in winter weather?

So how about a challenge with some blog candy to go with it... play along and you could win our mystery prize (it will make you smile if you win).

I am a box junkie so I had to try this one out. The template can be printed right onto your pattern paper.(just adjust your printer settings to fit to page) I cut a 12"x12" down to 8.5"x11" and just ran it through my printer, and because it was a double sided paper, I just inked over the print on the top so that it didn't show.
I have added a picture of the one I made and a link to the template so you can make one too. Up load your picture to the blog, and we will draw a random name for our prize. Upload your image or to send us a link so we can add it to the blog. Have fun and enjoy the challenge! Let your Imagination flow

Just click on the picture to open the template up, then save it to your computer. When printing you may need to resize, but I think it will print out in the correct size for the box I made

Prima Is Here

I was so excited to receive the Prima Flowers order on Wednesday and to look at all of the wonderful things that came in..flowers, bling, lace, papers and yes, we even got some of the paintables in! I have finally gotten all but the lace listed in the store, and as soon as the lace arrives in Hawaii, we will get that up and ready for sale too.
I have had my granddaughter Anika here with me for the last couple of days, so scrapbooking has had to be set aside for awhile. We had a great time, and she is really into doing crafts so I think I have a future scrapbooker on my hands. We spent some time doing Easter Crafts and even Papa Helped color some of the bunnies.
I am anxious to get my hands on some of this new stuff and get some samples made. I have visions of projects dancing in my head, and if I were smart, I would take a pad of paper to bed with me, so that when I wake up in the middle of the night thinking of what I can do, I would be able to write it down and remember it in the morning. Sigh, No rest for the weary huh.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter, and that you find all of the hidden eggs so that in July when the sun is shining hot, you will not find that one that got left behind. Blessings to all of you and your families.

Cute Basket

I found the cutest basket while reading some of my favorite blogs and I just had to try it out. I altered mine just a bit from the original and did mine in a 9"x9" Size. I went to visit a friend today who had surgery on her knee and we made a few of them for her grand kids while I was there. They are super simple to make and would not only make a good Easter Basket, but a nice Mother's day basket, baby shower gift basket, party favor basket (I picture these for a little girls tea party gift) oh boy is my mind on over drive with this one. I have added the link to the tutorial as she has done a great job showing how to make it. Hope you will try it, and Please Please Please post a picture of it if you do. We want to see your work!
