Serenity Temple

Hello Hello! Can you believe it's the beginning of November already?
My name is Dawn Edwards from Crafting on the Prairie and I'm beyond excited to be designing some inspirational cards and projects with Scrapadabadoo! Some of you may be familiar with me as I have been in the blog world and Several Ustream chats since 2009.

I have been crafting since a child but stepped up my game about 6 years ago when I changed my profession to a Homemaker. My crafting style could best be classified as Shabby Chic vintage but I try just about anything once.  After all that's why crafting is so fun right!

Today I'd like to share with you a 3-D paper pieced card using the Bo Bunny "Serenity" paper pack. I will guide you through the steps of creating this card and hope it inspires you to take out your papers and craft - or run to Scrapadabadoo.com and get the needed supplies to complete this fabulous card.
Let's get started!

This beautiful card starts with a simple 5x7 black cardstock base and 2 layers. The aqua cardstock is from the chocolate box collection from Core'dinations and the serenity paper titled Garden. I inked all paper edges with Frayed burlap Distress ink for this project.

Now to create the temple we have some prep work before assembly. Using the paper titled Luck cut along the outside edge of the light brown lines  to create strips.

Using the Martha Stewart  Doily Lace edge punch cut 2 of the 3 "A" strips. (save the tiny cut off from the punched strip)

From these punched strips you will create your temple roof tier's

Counting the scallops and cutting at a 45* angle you will need a 6, 5, and 4 scallop pieces. You will do this to both punched pieces. (I used my first strip and layered on top of second to get a mirrored cut)
Next we need to cut the spacers between roof tiers.
Using the reverse side of paper with "B" strips I laid all 3 of my tiers to center them up with the "dots" as below.

For the temple house cut 2 squares. The base is 3"x3"  and the top is 2 3/4"x 2 3/4". I used the  2nd largest die from each of the classic Spellbinders Nestabilities square dies.  I used a matcthing aqua color cardstock from the chocolate box collection of Core'dinations cardstock.

Sand the cardstock piece till the desiered color shows through. Apply pop dots to back of top layer and apply centered on sanded base.

Rough cut a scrap paper to 3" x 2 1/4" square and angle it  to a pyramid. Apply your longest "b" strip aligned with the bottom.  Leave a 1/4  space between tier bases.   At the bottom of the 6 scallop tier lay a thin bead of glue or tape and apply just above your largest roof tier. Continue this for the remaining 2 tiers. The back should look similar to the photo below.

Using the cut off from your punched strips adhere a 4 3/4" piece across base of  patterned paper. Center and adhere Temple house. Cut a 4" piece of the same punch cut-off at the top of house with rounded corners. Leave and 1/8 inch gap and adhere another  4 3/4" punch cut off piece. Fill gap with  snip-its from the previous strips. Your base should look similar to picture below.

Glue the pyramid roof piece centered on temple base. Add 3 rhinestones centered above temple. Using pop dots layer the remaining scalloped roof tiers. Accent base of tiers with distress stickles and set aside to dry.

To finish off the temple card I cut several varying sized flowers from the remaining "A" strip using my  Spellbinders Cherry blossoms dies. Fussy cut three of the large red blossoms from the cut out page.

Fussy cut the tag from the papers and glue to temple base.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I had a blast creating this card and wanted to share with you all the Fun and CREATIVE opportunity each paper has!

Have a Happy Crafty Day!
Dawn / Scarpadabadoo!
