Time Traveler's Memories Mini Album by Jen (ozegran)

Hi everyone!

I must say I cannot get enough of this Prima Time Traveler's Memories paper line! So much so that I have made a mini album from it using the Paper Accents Pockets!

The first thing I needed to do was to cut an opening in the bottom of the pockets so I just sliced off a sliver. Then I needed to mat them. Hmmm....they have curved, scalloped edges. I took the patterned paper and placed it behind the long side of the pocket and traced the curve. I then used a craft knife to carefully cut on the traced line

Once the back was matted I had to figure out how to trace the front curve, as it curved downwards. While pondering this I decided to make two templates for these pocket curves so that I wouldn't have to go through this for every pocket. So I cut a piece of chipboard which was slightly shorter than the width of the pocket, traced both edges and cut the curve with a craft knife

Once the template was made, cutting the mats for each pocket was a piece of cake!

I used the same curve as the back for the inside mat - this mat was only 3" long - it didn't go all the way down inside the pocket, just enough

The inside tags are a cream coloured cardstock to match the pockets and are cut to 6 3/4" x 4 1/4" (actually I cut them to 7" x 4 1/4" then cut the curve using the chipboard template exactly as I did for the matting paper). I also matted the tags on both sides

NOTE: I wanted the tags to accommodate a full sized 4"x6" photo, which is why I cut them to this size

I decided I wanted a smaller tag inside the pocket also, so I downloaded a free online graphic onto the same cream cardstock I used for the larger tags, gave it a curve also, punched a hole, set an eyelet and added some twine

Now it was time to make the covers! I cut two pieces of medium weight chipboard to 7 1/4" x 4 5/8", traced the curve using my chipboard template and cut it out to make my two outside covers. But how to cover them...they have a curved edge! I decided to cover them with the same cream cardstock as the tags

To cover the curved edge I cut shark teeth to assist with the curve and stuck them down with Scor-tape

I cut another piece of the cream cardstock, curved one edge and adhered it to the other side. This one I kept for the back cover

For the front cover I just adhered a piece of the cream cardstock to one side of the chipboard cover, then cut around it with my craft knife

Then I had the bright idea to punch holes all around the perimeter of the front cover using my Tim Holtz ruler and a paper piercer

I adhered the cream cardstock on the inside front cover and pierced the holes again. I then took some twine and a needle and ran a blanket stitch around the entire front cover

Outside
Inside
As the edges were still raw chipboard I decided to spray both sides of the front cover with some Lindy's sprays - after I stamped it (don't know why I stamped it as the images were not visible after spraying LOL)

Inside front cover - Espresso Color Wash only
I cut a piece of designer paper to cover inside of the blanket stitch on the inside front cover

Next I cut the chipboard for the spine at 2" x 4 5/8", then scored/cut the chipboard at 1/4" intervals to create a curved spine (don't know why I did this because I ended up adhering it to another piece of straight chipboard later on). I sprayed it and put it aside

Next I made Kathy Orta's Hidden Hinge Binding using the cream cardstock, cut a piece of burlap to the same height as the spine and approximately 6" wide, found the centre and adhered the binding to the burlap using Aleene's Tacky Glue

While the binding is drying on the burlap I decide to start working on the front cover embellishments. I took one of the Prima Wood Embellishments, the fob watch, randomly placed some VersaMark ink over it and heat embossed it using Bronze UTEE and a little Gold UTEE

I took another of the Prima Wood Embellishments - the "life" piece and covered the word "life" with embossing ink using the clear Inkssentials Embossing Pen then poured over some Adirondack Espresso embossing powder and heat set it

I took a few tags and ATCs from the Prima Time Traveler's Tag Me Tags & Tickets and the Prima 3x4 ATC Pad, inked them up with some black soot distress ink and put aside for now

I cut a piece of burlap to size and adhered it to the front cover using wet glue. I then started layering all the pieces I'd chosen onto the front cover and adhering them down with wet glue

Next I placed some wet glue onto the chipboard spine piece and adhered the hinge/burlap piece and set it aside to dry

I now needed to make an outer cover for the album - I cut 2 pieces of chipboard to 4 5/8" x 1" (for the front and back) and a piece to 4 5/8" x 2" (second spine). I wanted to add some twine to the second spine so marked and punched 8 holes in the spine

I then wrapped them as you would normally wrap your covers and spine with designer paper on the outside only. I then re-punched the holes through the paper using the chipboard holes as a guide (after I covered the outer cover)

Outer Covers Designer Paper cut to 5 5/8" x 5 1/2"

Apply double-sided tape to the perimeter of the chipboard

Mitre the corners

Fold over and adhere paper to all sides

Outside of outer spine

Tyvek cut to 4 5/8" x 4"

Adhere Tyvek to inside of outer covers

Re-punch holes

Set eyelets

All ready to add the twine!
Cut a piece of twine approximately 24" long and thread through the eyelets, starting from inside of either top eyelet and working into two criss-crosses

Finish off with a bow!

Now it's time to attach the front and back covers to the second cover using a good strong wet glue. Once you adhere the covers attach a few clips to keep it together while the glue dries

Once the glue has dried it's time to attach the binding/burlap section using wet glue, again using the clips to hold it all in place until the glue is set

I ended up cutting off the burlap to about an inch from the binding and applying a thin bead of wet glue to the underside of the burlap onto the 1/4" space between the spine and each cover to hold it in place

I decided I wanted to add a bit extra embellishing to the front cover so I took a Tim Holtz Timepiece Clock Face and hitch post, inked them with pitch black alcohol ink then rubbed on some Copper Inka Gold, White Fire Treasure Gold and African Bronze Gilder's Paste, screwed the hitch post into the clock face, attached some pop dots to the inside area of the clock face, squeezed on some Glossy Accents onto the base of the hitch post and adhered it onto the front cover

And its finally finished!!!! I love how it turned out!
