Swap time!!!

ATC Swap 2015

In the last few days we all had the ATC fever not to mention we had fun making them. This gave me the idea to see if there would be enough people who would like to do a swap…

Carol put up a post and soon people let us know they would love to try one soooo…here we go!!!!

I will do a step by step on the rules ( we don’t have many ) and the ideas we had about this swap.

1. You can sign up until the 28th of February 2015.

2. To sign up you sent an email to wendykats74@gmail.com with the following information : your name, full address (otherwise the people in your group can’t mail you’re cards ) the country you are in and if you would mind being in an international group.

3. In the first week of March you will receive an email with the people in your group. We are trying to make groups of 7 which means you will receive cards from 6 people.

4. You will have till the 31st of March to mail your cards to the people in your group.

Once you received the information of your group it is time to get started on the fun part…making the cards!!!

Our lovely Miss Carol had the perfect idea…spring and flowers!!! I think we are all slowly getting sick of winter lol.

There is this great saying “April showers bring May flowers” and that is what we are going to use in this swap.

We will be making two chipboard cards that will have the elements of spring and flowers and tie them together with say ribbon, twine, lace or whatever you have in your stash.

To give you an idea I made a set using some of the Graphic 45 Time to flourish papers.

The standard size of an ATC is 2 ½ x 3 ½ so we are sticking to that size. However you can always have some embellishments stick out at top or bottom or side as long as the total size doesn’t go over 3 x 4 and we have a reason for that and I will explain later why.

Once you have made your cards make sure you do not forget to sign it on the back!! I know people would love to know who made the set :)

Last step….mail the cards and wait for the postman to bring you 6 envelopes with 6 sets of cards, and here is the reason why you will have to stick to the maximum size of 3x4….

Where will you store the sets of lovely cards of this swap? Well how about this box?

The tutorial for this box will be mailed to all who sign up for the swap so you can keep all your cards together.

I am looking forward to seeing all of your emails so I can start making the groups and get this swap rolling.

If you have any questions please let me know you can use the same email as the one for the sign up.

Hope to read you all soon.

Hugs, Wendy

Happy Valentine's Day

We want to wish you all a happy love filled Valentine's Day with some special treats from a very special lady.
Jani has made some beautiful cards for us to enjoy. These cards can be used for so much more than just this one day. A heart can be used any time. I love hearts and I use them all the time on my cards for all occasions

In these cards Jani has used Authentique's Classique Pretty Collection and I think you will agree these are classy and pretty to say the least!

This uses the Echo Park scalloped heart die and some of the Rock Candy glitter dots

These are so beautiful they don't need any sentiments added.

Here she has used some Ranger Texture Paste and a stencil to dress up the heart
She sprayed the white ruched ribbon and added a piece of pink and black trim
The black and white hounds tooth really makes the heart pop!

This paper collection has some delicate corner accents on some of the pages that Jani used  for focal feature on the cards.

Here she used several size heart punches
And on the one below a combination of dies and punches

The hearts below were dressed in Pickled Raspberry Distress Glitter.

I think you will agree these cards can be used for any occasion. And if you aren't fond of hearts you can always swap out the hearts with a scallop circle or some other feature shape to make these elegant cards

Hope you enjoy Jani's cards.
She will have a tutorial for these cards.
Please check Scrapadabadoo Crafts FB page for availability.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

12 months of love by Wendy Kats

Valentine's Day is around the corner....that day of the year you tell your loved one you love them with all your heart. I always felt like it shouldn't be just one day a year to do something special with the one you love, so I came up with a fun project to make sure you have 12 special days of quality time with the one you love.....

For this project I used the Time to flourish from Graphic 45 and a total of 14 chipboard hearts.
Ohhh you will need 12 little tags as well but i will explain that in a bit.
My idea is very simple....spent at least one day a month together....just you and your loved one....no work, no kids, no phone...nothing but each other. How? i can hear you think well let me show you.

I used the 8x8 pad for the hearts. I covered both front and back and added some of the cut apart as well. As you can see I punched a little hole and attached a small tag to it ...I came up with 12 different activities and wrote them on the back of the tag. So a picnic in the park, or make a bonfire and roast marshmallows, a night at the movies etc.
This is the result of all the months....I think I did well ...

In the begining I mentioned a total of 14 hearts and there is a reason for it. As much as I liked the box corners, the hinges and the cute closure...there was something missing. It took me a while to figure out what it was but it just hit me......initials!!! I wanted the box to be as special as the hearts inside so....

I attached two hearts on top of the box ( I actually had a clear moment and covered both sides as they stick out and you can see the back when you open the lid) and used some chipboard letters for the initials, added some flowers and couldn't stop smiling at the result.

The Tutorial for this project can be found in Scrapadabadoo store HERE

I know this is not the typical project for your photo's but I think with this box you will make plenty of memories and pictures that need an album.

For now I say scrap on, love the people close to you and tell them more often they mean the world to you.

Hugs,
Wendy

My Minds Eye~Jubilee Gift Idea

IMG_4690
This was a gift from Leisa Herbst when I went to CHA.  Many of you have asked me how to make this so, I made one using My Mind’s Eye”" “Jubilee”.  So, many collections have gold in their collection so, I created mine with the gold pattern papers from this collection.
First , you will need a note pad and I would measure the width of it and add 1/4 inch to that measurement.  Since this will be something that will be used quite a bit, it is best to do it from Kraft tex.  I cut a piece of white Kraft tex 8 x 11 x 1/2.  Scor from the left at 3 1/2 then 4”, 7 3/4 and 8 1/4.

Then I added magnets as shown:

I used two on the inside of the front cover and on the outside of the inside flap.  I also, used my ek success punch to create the border.
Then you just measure each piece 1/4 inch smaller for each panel.  To attach the pattern paper with fabric tac
Outside

Inside

I also, inked all sides with Krylon gold leafing pen.
I used the Jubilee mixed bag to decorate the front.  IMG_4690

I had to add something to the inside besides the pocket:

4  x 3 and scor 1/2 inch on 3 sides miter corners and add tape.

I used the new My Mind’s Eye die “Niche On Trend Die”.  Prima Leaf Die Set and Petaloo Color me crazy.  So, here is the finished note pad cover.  This would be great for teachers gift, Moms, friends anyone really.  I want to say thank you to Leisa again for this great gift!
