Garden Gate Mini

For some reason I have fallen in love with the different garden gate books

The newest one is the Sizzix Garden Gate Album, and it has been a ton of fun to make.

Of course I had plenty of the Graphic 45 Secret Garden Paper, and it was the perfect fit.

 

 

The album, either the die, or the chipboard book

comes with the gate, and the square pages.

The fence is cut out of chipboard and then out of the white wood grain paper. I added

one of the paper flowers from the collection, with a gem from my stash and of course

the Tim Holts Ring Fastener was the perfect fit for the gate handle. The book is bound with the

Pink and cream ribbon from the store.

 

On the front page I added one of the envelopes and tags from the collection and left room for

A picture at the top or a small one in the corner..

 

Using the small confectioner envelope from cottage cuts, I cut two pockets and added tags

and then put a small mat for a picture and a chipboard tag for journaling. Then a space for a larger

Picture and one of the cute butterflies from Petaloo.

 

The Friends tag is one from the Secret Garden collection

 

This is a door, that as you can see in the next picture opens up.

I used the Crafters Workshop Chicken wire die on the doors, another flower from the collection,

 and a couple of tags also from the paper collection. The leaves are the Cheery Lynn Flourish Leaf border die, and this one cuts out several of the same leaf at one time. The center of the flower is a white half pearl that was colored with

the Ranger Patina Paints, that I find not only does amazing things with Metals but also plastics too.

 

Inside the doors that are attached with the Darice Curved hinges

is one of the cut outs from the paper collection, popped up for holding tags, and then

another of the chipboard tags and a sticker.

 

I have been dying to use this Cottage Cuts Wooden Bench die and this

is the perfect place to do so. This die had me intimidated and has not been

out of the package before now, and I must say it was so easy to put together and I will definitely be

using it again. The Birds are the Marianne Dies and they really are a great size for our mini's

 

The nesting Dies from Life Style crafts are always fun to use for photo mats .

 



 

 

 

The Back is simple, just one of the paper elements, with one of the many

inspirational quotes and my signature stamps to polish it off....

 

The Die, or the precut album are both available in the store and when I was looking at it

it seem to me that this would be a great album to use with the New G45 Steampunk Spells and dress up the gate with all of the great elements that are included in the collection !!

Carol - Update

First we want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers and all the waonderful notes you have sent. You have to believe that all the prayers do help. There are times when a situation seems so bleek but by some miracle it changes for the better...so thank you all.

By now I guess everyone has heard via Laura's show and FaceBook that last Thursday Carol's sister had a massive heart attack. Carol left immediately in the middle of the night and picked up her mom and they headed for eastern Washington to the hospital where her sister Dee Dee lay in a medically induced coma. The situation was very critical and only time would tell the future. The doctors planned to start bringing Dee Dee out of the coma slowly early on Saturday morning. By Saturday evening she was showing some cognitive signs. She was able to respond to commands and wiggle her finger and toes. While these are good signs...she still has a very long way to go and a long recovery.
So that is the info thus far. Carol will be back on Thursday.

There shouldn't be much of a slow down in orders shipping out. The girls in the office are awesome and more than capable of running things until Carol gets back. If you have any questions you can contact me, Barrie, thru the store's comments. I will be answering emails quickly thru out the day.
Carol will be sending out the newsletter but please check out the "What's New" section in the store to see the new products that have arrived. Carol only has her IPad with her and can't load the new product pictures to the newsletter.

A Little Help from My friends

I dont' know how to express my feelings in words.But I will say you ladies are the most amazing bunch of gals on the planet and I love you all dearly.

A few weeks ago tragedy struck my very dear friend JoAnn. Her beautiful home suffered a terrible fire and she lost everything. That in itself was bad enough but JoAnn volunteers her time and supplies to teach papercrafting classes in her area schools ,grades 1-6. She also lost all of her supplies. Years and years of collecting supplies were gone in an instant. This is the time of year when she has all the kids make Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts and cards. She had classes scheduled for May 2,3,8,9& 10. When she said to me " I don't know what I am going to do...if I can't do the classes I have committed to and I have to let the kids down...that  will push me over the edge"

Here is my beautiful friend who has just lost everything and she is worried about letting the kids down! I had to do something!!

So I made a few calls. One was to Sizzix and they stepped right up and sent her a demo machine. Alright!...That was easy! So I asked Laura (Follow The Paper Trail) if she would make an announcement on her show that Friday nite. She told JoAnn's story on her live UStream show and asked the viewers to help by sending anything they had extra in their scrap supplies to JoAnn so she could keep her commitment to the kids.

Well the emails poured into me asking for her address so they could send her some boxes of scrap supplies. By Monday boxes had gone out in the mail and by Wednesday they were showing up at JoAnn's doorstep. Box after box arrived filled with everything she could possibly need. She was so happy! She was going to be able to keep her classes for the next day!

JoAnn went and held all her classes last week and so far this week and the kids got to make their Mother's day gifts and cards. The kids just love her to pieces. She even has all the boys decorating their boxes and making cards to go in them. She has each student decorate a box that she and her friend frantically worked to cut out and assemble the day before. And the kids each made 4 cards to go in the box to give to their Mom's for Mother's Day.One little boy told JoAnn "Mrs. Dunn...you are funner than recess" That just about says it all.

I can't thank all of you enough. You jumped into action to help a total stranger and help them to help others. But most of all your love and kindness touched the heart of someone who desperately needed it at that moment and you all helped her to get thru one of the toughest times of her life.

You ladies are amazing and I am so, so proud to have you all in my life. Thank you...thank you...

Beautiful Mother's Day card

Welcome friends! Today we are sharing a Tri-fold shutter card.

 

This Beautiful Mother's day card uses the Pink Paislee Hope Chest paper collection.

Special Occasions call for special cards so today I'd like to share with you how I made this card.

 

 Step 1 -

place 5 1/2" x 12" piece of cardstock horizontally on scor board and scor a 2",4",8",10".

Step 2 -

Place paper vertically in paper trimmer at 1 1/4 and cut from 2" scor line to 10" scor line.

Flip over and repeat on opposite site at same dimensions.

Step 3 -

Fold at scor lines to match picture above.

 

Step 4 -

Cut cardstock matting 1/8 smaller than card base sections:

2= 1  7/8  x  5  3/8

2= 2  7/8  x  1  7/8

2= 1  1/8  x  3  7/8

4= 1  1/8  x  1  7/8

1= 2  7/8  x  3  7/8 

Step 5 -

Cut coordinating pattern paper 1/8 smaller than cardstock matting sections:

2= 1  3/4  x  5  1/4

2= 2  3/4  x  1  3/4

2= 1  x  3  3/4

4= 1  x  1  3/4

1= 2  3/4  x  3  3/4

 

Step 6 -

adhere papers to card base using

adhesive of choice.

 

Step 7 -

From the Paper Goods selected die cut and mat onto cardstock and hand trim around edges to create a 1/16 border.

Using Tim Holtz Distress markers and water brush color in butterfly to match papers.

 

Here is a closer view of the colored butterfly which I covered with glossy accents once 

dried.

Step 8 -

Create a small cluster of flowers to accent lower left corner of paper goods die cut.

I like to use the rolled flower dies and spellbinder foliage dies.

CHA 2013

What an amazing time CHA was this year... We got to see so many people, do so many things and it seems to takes a while for this old brain to process it all. Barrie, Laura and Joy arrived a day early as Laura was scheduled to teach a class for G45 and the other girls pitched in to help her out. I am sure Barrie was wondering if she was going to actually be able to make it, as Laura and Joy left her before she got her britches on. She struggled for a half hour, but managed to get them on and buttoned... She really was a trooper and had a great time even if she was in a cast and limited as to what she could do.

Suzanne Shinji once again took care of all of our hotel needs by bringing us goodies to sustain us during our visit... she brought so much stuff they had to bring it up to the room on the Bell Hop Cart... Next year we are making sure that they are put in Mine and Barrie's room as we were not aware that there were M&M's !!! I think Joy got all of those !

 

Jim, Cesar and I all flew into  Long Beach airport and were picked up by Leisa Herbst, and Carolyn Price. We stopped at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant for dinner before going to the hotel and the food was fantastic, but the company was even better !!

I just can not get use to tossing peanut shells on the floor and having it be ok. 

 

 

These gals also make us great gifts when we come and we so love them all !! You two are the Best Best Best... And Leisa even took us back to the airport too !!! Thank you !!

 

 

We were all excited to head over to the convention center on opening day.. we must have made quite the site walking over as there were quite the group of us.. We had to stop and take a picture and of course you can see who had a new phone.... The sun was out, but boy was it cold..

 

 

 

The first thing we wanted to see was the envelope maker from We R Memory Keepers and that is where we headed first.... Jim and I jumped in and did their make and take to see how it works and we do believe that you all are going to Love it.... works like a dream and you can do every size envelope you can imagine !

Then we were off to discover all of the other goodies and we were pleasantly pleased with what there was to see....

Kaiser Craft of course knocked my socks off with some of their Beyond the Page Storage..

Here is the Cupboard, the Tool caddy and a couple of their other chests, and display items.

 

 

They have new metals coming out... label holders, drawer pulls, corners and hitch posts.... I think the thing that impressed me the most about this release was that each package has 12 of the same finish it it... I like that as there are some projects that just need more of the same finish and I won't have to buy two or three packages to get the amount I need.

 

 

Their wood elements make me crazy !!

 

 

 

 

And lets not forget their wonderful stamps and papers !

I had to stop by the FabScrap booth and say hello to the lovely ladies who so kindly sent me a big box of goodies for winning their October contest.... They are so nice and I just love all of their goodies

 

 

They have new embellishments and they let us know to keep our eyes open for more fabulous catches to add to the others that we can not keep in stock !

So that is about all I have pictures of... I always seem to forget that I have my camera or get just too busy to stop to take pictures !!!

We are hoping to have the Envelope Board in soon... We should know on the 21st when the ship date will be... I am really excited for you all to get your hands on these... They were the hit of the show for sure.

I took a ton of pictures the night of our Pizza Party, and when I uploaded them they were all blurry and not one of them was usable..... We did have a great time and want to thank all who came... We sure did enjoy our time together and hope that we an all do it again next year !

 

 

Oh, one last thing... we did find some of the Memory Wire that Barrie has been searching years for. They gave us a sample and Jim is always one to think outside the box on new product uses.

I think he was hoping it would work like the breathe right stips  since he had such a stuffy nose...

I told him he could keep it when he offered to give it back...
