Ok first of all I am not from Mars..... I am just an early riser and like to get to the hot water before they use it all up... nothing worse than a cold shower, although I did hear a news report about how being in the cold can help you burn as many calories as taking a 20 min walk.....I would rather walk I think.

Our brains are on overload and it has only been day one of 4 and there is much more to see. We have fallen in love with a few things so far.....

First of all being the distress pens. Yes they are just like the inks and they do react to water

Then they have made the Kraft Core Paper And the Distressed Papers In Mini Pads, Great for Die Cutting (and easier to ship)

Back to the show today and we have a road map to get to the booths we missed yesterday. Our dogs are already barking, and we have had the chance to meet a few of you and we are enjoying our time together..... Kathryn even did a personal rendition of the Omar Story for us !!! What a hoot.

Well, we made it here safe and sound. We went the first day and we all feel like we have been hit by a bus. As usual Carol is up and dressed and ready to go at 7am. We are all looking at her like she is from Mars!
Laura is busy prepping her supplies for her G45 demo today. I am sitting here trying to answer emails and having no luck at all. We have not been able to send out any emails. The Internet connection is so slow and for some reason we can't send out emails except from our phones. And worse...we were not able to do any kind of a show last nite. It is a shame too...because we had some fun stuff to show you all. Oh well..it will just be a bigger surprise when we do finally get to show them. Good new is that Carol will be posting some fun pictures on here is just a bit so you can see some if the really cool stuff we found. So check back in a little while to see her pictures.
It's time to get going so we will post as we can. And if you have sent us a comment thru the store or an email...We do apologize for not sending a reply...but we will as soon as we get home and have email service.

New Years Eve Winners List

Well...as we close the door on 2011 and party our way into 2012 with high hopes for better times ahead... we hope you all will hang with us because we are planning some really fun things and different types of things. We are trying to branch out and keep you excited and anxious for the next show. We all have listened to what you have been asking for ...so I think Laura and Kathryn will give you some of that and much, much more. And of course we will look for new stuff and new ways to use your old stuff...we have lots of that coming up too. So again...grab a seat ( which should be well contoured to your seat by now)...grab a friend and let's scrap our way to the next Annual Scrap bash!!!

We all...Carol, Laura, Kath and I want to thank each and every one of you guys for you support and most of all for the love and friendship you have given us the past few years. You have allowed us into you homes and into your hearts and we just can't thank you enough for being there and cheering us on. It is all of you that make us want to be better and do the best we can for you. We never ever say..."oh ...that's good enough" because you deserve the best we can do and nothing less!
We hope everyone had a great time tonite with Laura and that you'll be as excited for Sunday's show with Kath. Of course Carol and I will be there...we have another huge stash of goodies to give away along with Kathryn's treasure chest full of gifts and treats. So I am going to say goodnite and thank everyone again for such a wonderful year!

Well, by this time I would hope you are all done with your shopping and ready to stay home and bake cookies and pies. Those intoxicating smells and the warmth that envelopes you remind me of my childhood. I remember having to keep the Santa Claus secret from my little brother because he wasn't old enough not to believe in the jolly plump gentleman in the red and white suit. Something funny I remember...we never questioned how Santa got in the house...since we had no chimney!

For those of you that don't get our Newsletter...I thought I would publish this poem to the blog. It was written by Carol, my partner...and it is ADORABLE. Enjoy!

Twas the week before Christmas and all through my room, not a surface was visible and forget using the broom.

The gift were all there, in some way shape or form, and I'm starting to think that chaos is the norm.

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear, its Laura or Kathryn and chatters so dear.

A little craft project, they swore would be quick,some paper some glue, that should do the trick.

They called out dimensions, 1/2 by one fourth, you score it and fold it, this flap should face north.

I knew I could do it, just one more quick gift, a cute little card or a mini that's it.

The search is now on, or where could that be? The paper, the embellishments, I swear I can make three.

My fingers are covered with mist and distress, oh look what I've done they should pass the test.

They may not be perfect, and may have their flaws... but come on let's admit it, I am not Santa Clause.

Hello and long time no post. We are so delighted with the amount of recipes we have gotten in, and of course the projects that we have been able to share in our news letter. We thank you all for your participation !!

There have been several questions as to what the tickets are for that we have been sending out. We along with Laura of Following The Paper Trail and Kathryn of Kathryn Scraps are hosing a New Years Eve and New Years Day Bash. During those two shows, Laura and Kathryn will be announcing the names of the prize winners from the blog sign up, then in addition to those gifts, Barrie and I will be drawing names from the tickets for more prizes. We will be posting the names of the winners from the tickets in the Chat as well as sending an e mail to those who have won. We have some great prizes that have been donated by our suppliers and each of us are providing a number of prizes as well. There should be a lot of gift giving going on, and we anticipate that we will have a wonderful time !!

I have to thank Laura for her Message Center Project, as it the perfect gift for my Daughter in Law who has been searching for something like this to put on her Fridge. I made a few changes to the project but for the most part left it the same. I have a couple more additions to the picture as shown but this is it

I had been dying to use the chalkboard paint that I have been hording, so instead of the acrylic it is a chalk board !! I love the Tim Holtz Grunge Blocks For the word Memo at the top and his tutorial of how to use them is wonderful.

I added a little cover to one of the cubbies to hold the mini staples so they would not fall out.

I have gotten some hefty magnets for the back as well as a picture hanger so she can decide how best to use it once she gets it home.

This is the perfect gift !! Thanks Laura !

Memory Box Dies and My Yummiest Recipe

This way you won't miss out when they come in late next week. We really suggest that you do get on the list because some of this last batch were gone within 4 hours.

As I have been promising...here is a fabulous twist on traditional Pecan Pie. Once I made this I never made one the regular way again. I hope you enjoy it as much as my gang does!

Pecan Cheesecake Pie

1 Deep dish pie crust
1 8oz pkg cream cheese softened
4 lg eggs
3/4C sugar divided (1/4 & 1/2)
2tsp vanilla divided
1/4tsp salt
1 C Light corn syrup
1 1/4C chopped pecans

>Beat cream cheese, 1 egg, 1/2C sugar, 1tsp vanilla and salt at med. speed with electric mixer until smooth. Pour into pie crust.
Sprinkle evenly with chopped pecans
>Whisk together corn syrup and remaining 3 eggs, 1/4C sugar and 1 tsp vanilla; pour over pecans. Place pie on baking sheet.
> Bake at 350 degrees on lowest oven rack 55-min or until done. Cool on wire rack. Best chilled and served the next day.

New Year's Bash News and More Recipes

WOW! The New Year's Eve sign ups for the prizes are off to a whopping start! In just four days we had as many entered as we did for a total last year. Do you think this is going to be fun ...or what?

Our sponsors are so generous. We are thrilled with the response from so many of the vendors. We'll be listing the prizes on the Bash Blog as soon as everything is in. We will know then how many prizes we will be giving away. For all of us that is the most fun part of the party!

A very important reminder ...you will be hearing all of us repeat this several times until the Bash Day. It will really help if everyone logs on to the UStream channel all throughout the day. Even six hours early and just stay logged in. You may want to check every so often to make sure you are still logged in. This will help so that everyone isn't trying to get on at the same time. That always causes people to get booted out and slows everything down. We want to do everything we can to keep UStream happy and functioning wonderfully thru the nite and next day.

We have gotten in some new recipes and one of these from Margaret Ann Moffat (aka heavenlymam) looks so dangerous! We want to hear from those of you who try this. I can't wait!!

Choc Mug Cake

1 coffee Mug
4 tablespoons flour (that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg - whisked
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) some nuts (optional)
Small splash of vanilla

How to make it
________________________________________
• Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well .
• Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
• Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
• Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
• Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high.
• The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
• Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
• EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake any time of the day or night.

Easy Chicken Tetrazzini without Olives

1 med. package thin spaghetti
3 cans Cream of Mushroom soup
3 cans Cream of Chicken soup
5 chicken breasts fully cooked
2 cups of cheddar cheese to cover

Boil noodles according to package directions. While pasta boils, shred chicken and combine soups together in large bowl. When pasta becomes al dente, drain and add into soup mixture. Pour into a greased 9 x13 casserole dish. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes

Football Dip

4 8oz. packages of cream cheese
1 can Rotel tomatoes mild or spicy
1 pound breakfast sausage
Fry sausage and drain
Add Rotel and cream cheese to Crock Pot and stir in sausage. Heat until cheese is melted and warm.

Chicken Cheese Soup

Boil 4 chicken breasts and 2 Tsp. salt in water. When done reserve liquid. Cool chicken and cut up. In a skillet melt 1 stick butter. Add 1 cup chopped onion and three chopped celery stalks. Sautee until soft. When done set aside. Cook 1 package of large elbow macaroni in reserved broth. When macaroni is done add onions celery and cut up chicken. Add enough water and chicken broth to almost fill pot. Add 1 pound Velveeta cheese chopped up. Cook until cheese melts stirring occasionally. Test for more salt if needed.

Mom’s Chocolate Pie

In a sauce pan heat together 1 cup sweet milk, 1/2 cup of coco and butter about the size of an egg. Beat yolks of two eggs add to milk mixture. Add I cup of sugar to mixture. In a separate bowl dissolve 2 tsp. of corn starch in milk. Add a pinch of salt, 1 tsp. Vanilla. Stir into the heated milk mixture. Cook until thick. Pour in baked pie shell. If desired use the two egg whites to make meringue.

Jim’s Favorite King Ranch Casserole

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of Chicken soup
1 can Rotel Tomatoes with Habaneras ( I like it HOT!)
½ cup Chicken broth
2 cups diced chicken fully cooked
12 corn tortillas torn into pieces
½ cup chopped onion
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Salt, pepper and garlic flakes

Preheat oven to 350. Mist a 9x13 casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Blend soups, tomatoes and chicken broth together. Layer half the chicken, tortillas, onion, cheese and soup mixture into casserole and sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic flakes. Repeat layers ending with shredded cheese.

Bake 1 hour uncovered.

Jim’s Very own Hot Sauce!!!

In a blender add the following and blend until smooth. Grab some tortilla chips and a margarita and your good to go!

1 Large Can Peeled Whole Tomatoes
2 or 3 Jalapeños
1 White Onion quartered
Handful of Cilantro
2 Heaping Tablespoons of jarred Minced Garlic
Dash of Seasoning Salt, Pepper, Course Salt, Lime Juice

Okay...it is LIVE! The New Year's Eve Bash 2012 and Hang Over Party blog is now open for sign-ups for the prize drawings! Get Ready For The Next Holiday

Well...the turkey is all picked clean and ready for lunches. We're all weary from the festivities and from shopping (for some of us) and now it is time to gear up for Christmas and right behind it...New Year's. I am still wondering where September went? There is a lot going on in the next few weeks.

This weekend is Carol's 35th wedding anniversary. To me that speaks volumes about a person. She and Dan have been thru raising their family to now, enjoying the rewards in their beautiful grandchildren. I wish them many wonderful years to come...and many more hazelnut lattes. Dan always makes Carol a hazelnut latte while she is mod-ing on the shows. Isn't he sweet??

Laura and Kathryn are working on projects for cards and gift giving. I think they will keep you creating right into the new year. keep checking the blogs for the latest happenings.
We also have a blog set up for you to register for the New Year's Eve Bash and Hang Over Party the next day. We will be posting the link to that blog sometime this weekend so keep checking. The blog will be open for the next three weeks for sign ups. We can't wait. Last year was so much fun we couldn't wait to do it again!

BEEF IN ONION GRAVY

1 can (10 3/4 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
2 T onion soup mix
2 T beef broth
1 T quick-cooking tapioca
1 lb beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes (Angus beef tastes the best of what I've tried)
Hot cooked noodles, mashed potatoes or rice

In a slow cooker combine the soup, soup mix, broth and tapioca. Let stand for 15 minutes. Stir in the beef. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until meat is tender. Serve over noodles, potatoes or rice.

Crockpot Cheesy Potatoes

Ingredients

2 lb. frozen hash browns
1 12-oz. can evaporated milk
1 10-oz. can cheddar cheese soup
2 Tbs. butter or margarine
1 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. cubed ham
4 oz. cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

Place frozen hash browns in crockpot on a low setting. In sauce pan add together evaporated milk, cheese sauce, butter or margarine, and salt. Bring to boil. Pour over potatoes; add ham and mix together. Cook for 3 hours. Add grated cheese and cook for 1 hour.

Chicken Soup

2 chicken breasts

2 and a half pints of cold water (approx)
2 chicken stock cubes
salt and pepper to taste
1 leek (2 if they are small)
2 handfuls uncooked rice (approx)

Place the chicken breasts in a pan and cover with the water (I use about 2 and half pints in the pan I use but a bit more or less won't matter)
crumble the stock cubes into the pan, cover and bring to the boil, simmer for about half an hour then either add the other ingredients (see below) right away or leave aside to cool till next day or later to allow the chicken flavours to develop, I think the soup tastes good whichever way!

If you leave it till later, bring it back up to heat, chop the leek and add to the water and throw a couple handfuls of rice in the pan (I use basmati rice as that is what I use all the time but I don't think it really matters too much) and the salt and pepper to your taste (you can leave this till the rice has fluffed up then you can decide by tasting it how much to add) cover the pan and bring it to the boil then simmer for half an hour or until the rice has fluffed up. You might find if you've been a bit heavy handed with the rice its fluffed up so its not like soup any more however all you need to do is add some more water -I usually add it from the boiled kettle so its as hot as the soup - and let it stand for a minute or two, meanwhile I take out the chicken breasts and roughly chop them into chunks to be put back into the soup to serve it. And that is it. Its so so easy and quick and is as tasty and filling as could be! Serve with some crusty bread and its a meal in itself.

Daisy's Yummy-licious Chocolate Cupcakes!

1/2 C. Butter (1 stick)
1 3/4 C. Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
3 Eggs
1/2 C. Milk
1 1/2 C. Flour
3/4 C. Chocolate Unsweetened Powder
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt

Cream softened butter in the mixer. Add sugar and cream again. Add vanilla. Mix. Add eggs and mix until creamy. Add milk and mix well. Add flour, chocolate, soda, powder, salt. Mix until blended but do not over mix.
Bake in a 350 oven for 18-20 minutes for regular sized cupcakes and 14-15 minutes for mini cupcakes.

Cream Cheese Frosting

1 Cube of Cream Cheese
4-6 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
Mix until you have the right consistency to work with a piping bag.

Mexican Dip

1 pound of ground beef 1 Jar salsa
8 plum tomatoes 1 pack Velveeta Medium
scallions

soften 1 pack of cream cheese
put on the bottom ~spread deep dish
Sprinkle taco mix-jalapeno
Cover meat mixture with chopped Velveeta cheese cubed on top
Layer tomato (cubed) scallions
Microwave 10 min. High
Use Jalapeno if you wish.

Buckeye Balls

1 1/2 cup Peanut Butter
1/2 cup unsalted butter room temp.
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pound conf. sugar
6 oz. semi-sweet
23 tablespoons solid veg. shortening(crisco)

Line baking sheet with wax paper
Mix in bowl~peanut butter, vanilla and powder, sugar and butter with hands to form smooth dough~
shape into bite size balls
Place on waxed paper-place in refg.

In double boiler melt 6 oz. sweet choc, shortening (do not boil) when smooth pour into small
measuring cup. Remove balls from reg. insert toothpics-dip into choc. 3/4 way return to wax paper
choc. side down remove pick.
Refrig. 30 mins or more until choc. is firm, not sticky
To store remove balls from waxed paper. Place in container with wax paper in between. You can freeze
them, too.

KENTUCKY CAKE

½ cup shortening (part butter for flavor)
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
2-1/4 cups cake flour or 2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup milk
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually and cream thoroughly. Blend in 2 well beaten eggs. Sift flour once before measuring. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to creamed mixture alternating with the milk. Add nuts with the last addition of the flour. Blend in vanilla. Pour into well-greased and floured cake pan. Bake 35 minutes for layers and 30 minutes for loaf in a moderate over 350 degrees.

CREAM CARAMEL ICING

1 tablespoon granulated sugar
¼ cup cream
6 tablespoon melted butter
3 cups confectioner’s sugar
Melt sugar in a heavy saucepan over low heat until it is medium brown stirring constantly to keep in from burning. Scald cream with butter and blend slowly into the caramelized sugar. Cook until the lumps are dissolved stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Gradually add confectioner’s sugar. Beat until all the sugar is added.

Carmel Corn

22 cups popped corn
1 to 2 cups nuts
2 cups light brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup white corn syrup
1 cup butter
½ teaspoon baking soda

Combine brown sugar, salt, corn syrup and butter in sauce pan. Bring to a light boil (this should take 4 to 5 minutes). Add ½ teaspoon baking soda. Be careful. This is the “magic ingredient”. The hot sauce will bubble and expand. Mix in popcorn and nuts. Bake at 250 degrees for one hour stirring every 15 minutes.

Oriental Cabbage Salad
( this is original ingredients)

1 pkg coleslaw from produce dept. (shred a small head of cabbage)
finely chop 3 green onions
crumble a pkg of Top Ramen Chicken flavor noodles , set seasoning pkg aside
2 whole chicken breasts cooked and chopped, I just tear it in small pieces
3 T sesame seeds toasted
(1/2 cup slivered almonds toasted) I use unsalted dry roasted peanuts no need to toast them

Dressing-

1/4 C sugar
1/2 C canola oil
3 T wine vinegar
season pkt from noodle pkg.
add the sesame seeds
Mix till sugar is mixed well

When ready to serve the salad combine the ingredients in large bowl. Mix/toss
do not add the dressing til ready to serve.

HAM LOG

1/2 pkg cream cheese
1green onion, snipped
1 can flakes of ham
fresh ground pepper
1tsp horseradish
chopped parsley
1tbsp lemon juice
dash of garlic powder

Soften cream cheese and flakes of ham with a fork. Blend together all ingredients except parsley.
Form into a ball or a log shape. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill until firm.
Before serving,roll in chopped parsley.
Serve with an assortment of crackers.Grated cheese can be added to the mixture, if you desire.

2/3 cup sour cream

Sorry we haven't had time to post more but we have been collecting your recipes for the Recipe Album that Kathryn from The Scrap Beach has been making. I will put this batch up and then the others later this week.

The Holiday Projects are shaping up nicely. I have been brainstorming with Laura on a couple in particular and I think they are going to be AMAZING! Honey Chilli Chicken Wings

1 large onion quarters (I tend to roughly chop the onion)
2 fresh red chillies chopped
half to one tablespoon dried chilli flakes
2 tabs soy sauce
2 tabs Honey
Olive oil
1 kg/ 2lb chicken wings

(for the health conscious remove skin and replace honey with artificial sweetner)
pre heat oven 200oC / 400oF
brown chicken wings in olive oil
add chillies
when you cannot breathe anymore (lol) add onions fry 2 min
pour over soy sauce and honey stir well
take off heat stir for a minute or two
pour into oven proof dish
cook for about 20 mins until cooked

Chocolate Mousse with no Raw Egg

150g mini marshmallows (5.5 ounces approx)
50g soft butter (rounded up to 2 ouncces)
250g ood dark choc min 70% cocoa chopped into small pieces (rounded up to 9 ounces)
284 ml double cream (heavy cream) (10 ounces)
1 teasp vanilla extract

with a gentle heat melt marshamallows, butter, choc stirr occasionally
remove from heat
whip cream and vanilla extract until thick and fold into choc mix until smooth mix seen
Pour (or scrape) into 4 large glasses/ramekins or 6 smaller ones and chill
eat the sooner the better -

*hide the bowl as it is cook's perks to cleanit lol

Here is a recipe that is a favorite of my family in the winter. I hope I wrote it so it makes sense.

Chicken and Dumpling

2 cups flour
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt1
5 Tablespoons real butter
1/2 cups milk
2 quarts chicken broth
1 chicken (about 3 lbs)
1 cup diced bell pepper
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced celery

Mix first 5 ingredients. Roll out to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into 1x3 inch strips. Dust with flour. Cover with waxed paper and let sit for about 2 hours.

Meanwhile, boil chicken in chicken broth or salted water, about 15 mins. with bell pepper, onion and celery. Remove chicken and let cool until it can be removed from the bone. Cut meat into bite sized pieces.

When dumplings are dry, uncover, flip over and dust with flour. Bring broth to a boil. Drop dumplings into boiling chicken broth and cook about 10 minutes. Flour from dumplings should thicken broth. Put the chicken back in the pot and salt and pepper to taste and serve with a loaf of garlic & cheese bread.

Cowboy Caviar

1 can black beans
1 can black-eyed peas
1/2C diced red bell pepper
1/2C diced green bell pepper1/2C chopped onion
2 stalks chopped celery
1 clove garlic, minced
1 small can chopped jalapenos
1 can or 2 tomatoes, chopped
3 sprigs cilantro (optional)
1 tsp sweet basil
1 tsp oregano
1/4C apple cider vinegar
1T lime juice

Mix all ingredients in large bowl (not metal) Chill 2hrs or over night for best flavor.

Masala Chai Tea – makes 2 small cups – increase recipe to required quantity

From Margaret Ann Moffat

1-1/2 cups water
1 inch stick of cinnamon
8 cardamom pods
8 whole cloves
2/3 cup milk
6 tsp. sugar (or to taste)
3 teaspoons any unperfumed loose black tea

Put 1-1/2 cups water in saucepan. Add the cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves and bring to a boil. Cover, turn heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the milk and sugar and bring to a simmer again. Throw in the tea leaves, cover, and turn of the heat. After 2 minutes, strain the tea into two cups and serve immediately.

CRAB MARTINI

From Dorothy Long

1 pound jumbo or regular lump crabmeat
2 lemons, zest grated and juiced, plus juice for coating glass rims
About 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (just enough to hold it together)
About 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
12 asparagus stems, bottom halves chopped, tops left whole
Seasoned salt
4 Swiss chard leaves, to serve
4 whole olives, for garnish
4 lemon slices, for garnish
Water crackers or toast points, to serve

Just before serving, gently combine the crabmeat with the zest,juice, mayonnaise, mustard, and chopped asparagus stems, add seasoned salt, to taste. To serve: spread some seasoned salt onto a plate, rim the martini glasses with lemon juice, and dip them into the salt. Line each glass with a chard leaf and fill with the crab mixture. Garnish each martini with 3 asparagus spears, an olive, and a lemon slice. Serve with water crackers or toast points.

Cook’s note: Don't put this together until the last minute.

Taco Soup

1 lb Ground beef

1 Can each: Kidney Beans, Green Beans, Black Beans, Corn

1 lg bottle V-8 Juice

2 pkgs Taco Seasoning

Sour Cream, Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Brown Ground beef and season with one of the packets of taco seasoning according to directions on the package.

Add all ingredents

Garnish with 1 spoonfull of sour cream and cheese

Serve with tortilla chips

Feeling Like Fall

Hey Crafters, Long time no Blog. Hope you are all doing well and starting to get settled in for the fall and all of the cooler weather. We are super excited for the projects that are coming up with Laura at Following The Paper Trail and Kathryn at The Scrap Beach. The Lockers that Laura just finished are adorable and I can not wait to see what her Fall Project is going to be for this coming Friday. Monday night football with Kathryn should be a blast as she continues to work on the pumpkin book. You can find more information on their blogs for up coming projects and ideas.

I found myself with some time on my hands yesterday, and found these cute pumpkins on the Split Coast Stampers Website and of course I had to make a few for my table decorations. They were super easy, fast and adorable.

I used plain carstock and stamped the leaves on, and then sprayed the paper with a few different colors of Glimmer mist. The Tattered Leaves Die was perfect for the pumpkin leaves, and I cut them out of the Tim Holtz Craft Resist paper and also sprayed them with glimmer mist. I cut thin strips of cardstock, sprayed them with .... yes... more Glimmer Mist and then wound them around a skewer to give them the curl.

You can use the link below to get to the great tutorial on them and give them a try. the only thing I did different from the instructions, was when laying the strips out, I placed them one across from the other to form the circle, and then gathered them from the way they were layered starting from the last to the first. I also put the bottom layers on the brad in the same way.

Birdcage Mini

Gosh, I can not believe that I have not posted on the blog for almost a month. I guess it really is true that time flies when your having fun !! I have been busy trying to get some crafting done, and all the other projects had to take a back seat once we got this new die in from Accucut. I fell in love with it when they released it and now after playing with it .... I love it more.

I had some of the Kaisercraft Blushed paper and thought that it would make a wonderful paper for this mini, so, using that to cover the page, I then added some bulk roses, string pearls, ribbon leaf and a die cut bird that is covered with glossing accents and then sprinkled with glitter while it was still wet. I added a few of the mini tags from the Tim Holtz Mini Tag die and some Bulk Leaves behind the roses.

On The back of it, I cut out a Memory Box Ringed Buckle and tied a pink and brown ribbon in the center. Then I used a Sizzix flower die and cut out three flowers from chipboard, covered them with card stock to use for mini pictures and then added some Butterflies from the Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly punch. I did put some stickles around the edges of the flowers.

This page is cut out of acrylic and then Stamped using the Butterflies cover a card stamp and saddle brown staz on ink. I cut out a small piece of pink paper to make a pocket with and then cut out some tags from the Sizzix Tiny Tags Die. The pocket edge is punched using the Martha Stewart Edge Punch

The Live is stamped onto one of the Mini Label die cuts from Sizzix. Not sure if you can see them or not, but I punched two holes in the acrylic and hung a couple of small charms on each side using a making memories garment pin

This is the back side of the Acrylic page and there is a pocket that holds two tags . The ticket is from the Tim Holtz Stamps ( we are getting them in ) and the bird is a Sizzix Movers and shapers Mini Bird Cage and Bird die. The Label is another Sizzix Movers and Shapers Mini label die. The word strip on the front of the pocket is a piece of Tissue tape.

This is our mini envelope die that we had made for our thank you notes and the top of it is cut off and glued to the front of the envelope and then there is a mini trifold inside. Add some flowers a bird and poof your done !!

A Double mat with pink and brown, the Accordion fold flower from the Sizzx Tim Holtz die ( the one with two sizes, a bit of bling, ribbon and there ya go

With this page, I cut the bars off of the bird cage page ( the one on the front) and used it to top the page. then punched the woodland branch out a couple of times added a couple of butterflies from the Sizzix Movers and Shapers Mini Butterflies die, some pearls, another Label, flowers and leaves

The little butterflies are the Memory Box Butterfly Delights die. I ran them through my xyron and then before taking them off the sheet, I added glossy accents and glitter, let them dry and then added them around the page. I also run my ribbon through the xyron too

Hi everyone! I haven't said much lately but this time of year always sparks me to speak out.
We have just kicked off the summer with the first holiday weekend ...Memorial Day. We fired up the grill...put the beer on ice and invited family and friends for a BBQ. The kids played in the pool if you were lucky enough to have one ...but for kids the sprinkler is always a hit. We enjoy the warming weather and know it will be a few months of sunshine, gardening, tanned skin and kids constantly running out the door as it slams shut with a BANG!

Now the next summer holiday weekend is approaching...4th of July...which happens to be on a Monday too. So we have another nice long weekend to head off to the lake or campgrounds. Hoping that it won't rain. Even those of us that will be staying close to home will still pray for nice sunny days in case we want to have another BBQ...After all...isn't that what the summer holidays are all about?

So many of our viewer have husbands, wives, brothers,sisters, sons and daughters in the military. Many of them are in active duty far from home and the manicured lawns and bright beautiful flowerbeds that host our backyard festivities. I would like to ask all of you to please take a few moments to bow your head and give thanks to the enormous sacrifices these families have made so that we can all enjoy the FREEDOM to which we have become so accustomed.. To ALL our service men and women...past , present and future ....

Happy Mother's Day

Just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very happy Mother's day. We hope you all have a very special day that is filled with love and laughter. Being a mother is is a tough job to have but one that is also filled with moments so special that you wonder how you ever lived with out your children. They make you laugh, they make you cry, and sometimes they even make you want to pull your hair out in frustration, but as a mother, we would have it no other way.

This is also a day that many of you are remembering your Mom's and to you we send special hugs. A mother may leave our sides, but she will forever live in our hearts.

I received a very special e-mail from a fellow crafter that I wanted to share with you and put this request out to you. This would be a great thing for us to do, to make a difference in the life of someone we will never meet.

I have a huge favor to ask. I need to put out an SOS to as many paper crafters as I can. My Mom has been recovering from breast cancer and completed her chemo (YOU KNOW THIS PART) last week but on April 25 we were walking into a shoe store and she stumbled backwards off a curb and has a massive skull fracture. She will never come back to us due to the massive brain bleed. She is in hospice care. Honest, this could happen to anyone one of us, young or old!!! She is at a nursing home and I noticed while my Mom is receiving lots of flowers and cards many clients have not had anything sent to them in yrs. In all honesty she will not be there much longer but I want to show these nurses and staff how wonderful they are and I want to fill the doors with banners. The clients can decorate their doors. I hope to get as many words of encouragement up on those doors as possible. Please put out an SOS to anyone who has time...yes I know it is Mother's Day Weekend!!! to send a banner to Edgewater Nursing Home 1214 Water Street, Kerrville, TX 78028. Think of it as another way to honor your own Mom and the many Moms in nursing care or hospice care elsewhere who's children cannot send them something at this time.

My Mom is 79 years young and is a folk art painter for more than 35 years. I used to tease that she and I had such different color pallets. I love pastels and she loves the "gypsy colors" of reds, teals, yellows, purples...close your eyes and see a gypsy wagon and you see my Mom who is full of joy, laughter, adventure and love. I want to fill her room and others with inspirational colors of live and a life well lived. If you can design in her spirit it will be spread from door to door.

Welcome May !!!

I am so delighted to wake up this morning to find that the sun was shining. It gives us hope that winter is on it's way out and spring may make an appearance. I should be out pulling weeds but instead I am inside finishing up a few projects and getting some things done before we head up north to the Tulip fields. I spent the last two days playing and managed to finish an entire mini. I have been itching to do something with the new Tim Holtz Craft Resist Paper and this is what I came up with.

I used the Chipboard Book that we have in the store (each page can be purchased separately) . The cover is the Scallop page, and I used the new Glubers to create the flower using the Making Memories Pleated Velvet Ribbon, and then the center flower is a fancy button. I added one of the Graphic 45 Envelope Tags, and gears from 7 gypsies. The leaves are cut out of Khaki Canvas using the Tattered leaves die and then I used crackle paint on them. The entire album is inked using the Vintage Photo Distress ink.

The inside page has a pocket that holds two tags, and is decorated using the pleated velvet ribbon, word sticks from Tim Holtz and fancy buttons on the tops of the tag. The round page is cut from Acrylic, and then I used the Time Travel Template and StazOn ink to put the clock face images on the acrylic. I also cut out two acrylic tags and used the Steampunk Embossing folders to create embossed tags. I also used alcohol inks to color the tags to give them more dimension. I created a pocket for both sides of the acrylic page to stick tags in. The ribbon on the tops of the tags are the crinkle ribbon, colored with distress ink.

The acrylic really does emboss well.

The Bracket page was left very simple, I covered the page with the Cordinations Distress paper, sanded it, inked it and then added the mats that are papers from the Craft Resist Paper Pad. I punched out a border using the Martha Stewart Linked Double Edge Punch, and then ran a piece of the crinkled ribbon, colored with distress ink through it. This punch is probably one of my favorites :-)

I used Laura Denison's waterfall pages for these two pages. I cut the pages out of the Coredinations paper, sanded and inked it, and the added the pattern papers that matched the background on fronts. The ribbon is the brown crinkle ribbon and the word sticks were added using the Making Memories Garment Pins. The edges of the pages were punched using the Martha Stewart Iron Gate Punch.

I of course can never resist using the Tim Holtz Caged Bird die, and the paper was perfect for it since it had a nice bird in flight on it. I cut the bird cage out of grunge board, sprayed it with the Perfect Copper, and then used the rock candy distress paint on it to finish it off. The mat is cut using the cordinations paper, and the corners were created using the Crop-A-Dile Stub/Deco. Then the next page is the Tabbed Page, and I created two pockets, one shorter than the other and cut 5 tags out to stick down inside of them. I used some of the left over papers, to decorate each tag and then added a bit of cord to the tops of each one.

Of course I had to finish the book by adding a post card. Stamped with the Tattered Angels Timeless Romance Stamps, then decorated with a Making Memories Stamp from the Stamp findings.

And for the back of the post card, I added a Prima Flower, and then put some Glossy accents onto the large butterfly image.

The Gluebers Are Here !!!!

The long awaited box of glubers Glubers have arrived and we are so excited. There were very few things at CHA that made us say wow and these were one of them. I had so much fun making the project and these great little dots make the task of making ribbon and fabric rolled and ruffly Roses easy as pie. What is even better the package comes with the supply list and the measurements printed on the back. Each package has an assortment of glubers in them so you can make different sized Roses. Here is a picture of the one I made at CHA.

You can add these to the front of a Mini, add a clip to the back for a hair piece, or even a pin to make it a broach. You can cut your fabric thinner and longer and make them a tighter roll. or, even use two different fabrics. The possibilities are endless !! I am so glad that I no longer have to use my glue gun for these, as the glue gun was like a burn magnet to my fingers !!!

I also discovered a very useful die.. I do not typically use the border dies, but this one is not just for borders. This is one of the Sizzix Dies, Birds & Branches. I used them to decorate the fronts of some of our Thank you cards.

I had fun with it, as I cut all the pieces out of white card stock and then colored them with the Ranger Distress Stains. I had been dying to give the stains a try and boy do I love them. My hands look a tad bit stained, but that to me represents creativity !!!

It's been way to long

Hey There Friends

I can not believe that it has been a month since either of us posted to the blog and that is way to long. I know we have both been busy, and now that I have some help, things are starting to get a bit easier for me and giving me some more time to get crafty.

When we were at CHA, KaiserCraft was giving away a bunch of their beyond the page items, and I was lucky enough to be able to get this shelf that I had been eyeing for so long. I had to do some trading to get it, and then prayed that it would fit into my already full suit case, but lo and behold it made it home with me. It has been sitting on a shelf, looking at me, just dying to be decorated. I finally decided that over the week end, I would do some crafting and this is the end result of the finished project.

There are three drawers that I made spiral flowers with fabric sent to me from Char, misted the fabric with Starfish, and then dressed them up with some of the Tim Holtz Buttons. The paper is the Butterfly Garden by Pink Paisley and I used Starfish Glimmer Mist to color the edges of the box (yes it works great on wood)

The back is decorated with another spiral flower, a butterfly sent from Char with the fabric

and then I made myself a post card with an inspirational message that says

"Life if full of twists and turns, but no matter what happens,

you have it with in yourself to over come it all. Live as each day as is it were your last"

And last but not least this is the side view. I had to use this paper on each end because when I looked at it, it was a love love love relationship.

Hey Friends and Followers

Just a quick update to let you all know that I have not forgotten that we have a blog !!! Things have been so busy around here that It has been hard for me to keep up with everything and some things just get left for last !!!
First of all, let me get the house keeping out of the way.. We are happy to combine your order as long as we have not sent your shipping invoice to you. We try to have all the orders packed within two days so if you need to add something, please let us know as soon as you possibly can that you have an add on order, or will be adding to your order. We have several customers that have open orders, so that they can add to them and when they let us know they are finished shopping we send them their shipping invoice. There are some international customers that continue to shop until they have filled up their flat rate box, and I have heard that it was said that I (Carol) can fit a small camper van in one of those boxes. So now on to fun topics !!

We are loving all the new products that have arrived and I have even had a chance to use a couple of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Movers and Shapers dies on my thank you cards. Some of you have probably received one of them, the bird cage, and or the butterfly !! These dies are just the perfect size for cards, minis, tags and of course the ATC's. You can even cut these little gems out of chipboard too.

I must try putting my paper onto the chipboard before cutting them out. They have Also come out with some great new flower dies and I am enjoying these as well and because they are a bigz die you can cut them from different materials such as the chipboard, fabric, and my personal favorite.. canvas.

With canvas you can paint it, stamp it, spray it, and even add some glitter to it !!!!

We also had a little birdie tell us that our Order from Pink Paislee shipped this week and will be on my door step in no time. This is one line of paper that I know I will be hording some of !!!

This is just one of the papers that are in the collection and we have other great elements coming too !!

We are still looking for some of you to send us pictures of your projects so that we can feature you in our news letter. We know there are a ton of you out there that are making some great things, so please send us pictures, a short over view of what it was made from and I promise you it will not hurt you one little bit !!!

Nothing Better Than New Things To Make You Smile

I left the house early yesterday to get some errands done, and when I got home there were boxes piled so high on my porch that I could hardly see the door. I was delighted as I knew that some of the items in the boxes were the long awaited Tim Holtz Idea-ology items, and the K&Company Botanical Papers and goodies. It took me quite a while to unpack it all, and get it put away, but mostly that was because I had to keep stopping to wipe the drool off of my face!!

The K& Company Papers are of course beautiful, and with it we have several matching elements. This line is definitely one that will make any project beautiful !!

The Tim stuff....sigh, there are so many items that are to die for, the tassels, the hangers, the stickers, the papers...... I just need one of everything. !!

We also got part of our shipment of the BoBunny Gabrielle, and Timeworks Papers in on Monday and these are paper lines that I am itching to use. They are probably my all time favorite BoBunny papers of all time. I am going to get the Clock pattern from Laura, and of course make my clock out of this Timeworks line. Not sure what the Gabrielle will be, but I am sure I can find something !!!

So is there any thing here that makes your imagination go wild !!!

So Many New Things So Little Time !!!

There have been boxes and boxes of things that have arrived this week and although some of it is restocking what has sold out, some of it is yummy new things !! We now have in three of the new Sizzix Tim Holtz Dies and 5 New Sizzix Embossing folders. We also have restocked the new Graphic 45 Curtain Call and Le Cirque. There are new fairy stamps, Distress inks in new colors, Replacement blades for the Martha Stewart craft knife, Ribbons, Flowers from Petaloo (yummy yummy) and maybe even more that I have forgotten!! And best of all, we got notification that our BoBunny Gabriell and Timepiece have shipped and should arrive on my door step Monday morning. I Love it when the boys in brown bring me such nice things !!

I did take some time this week to make a frame for the Beautiful picture of my Granddaughter that I received. She was wearing the perfect colors for me to make this frame from the Once Upon A Spring Time Paper From Graphic 45...I painted the frame with acrylic paint, then I added some of the Petaloo Rose Blooms In White, which I painted with a couple colors of Tattered Anges Mists... added some heart lace, and some string pearls (oh these are new in the store too) and I had a frame fit for a mini princess !!!

Not that I am prejudice but isn't she sweet?

Love Notes Box

Hey all !! Gosh I feel like it has been forever since I updated the blog.

This week has been kind of crazy and if you can believe it, we are having a snow storm !!

I believe I was thinking spring, warmth, sunshine..... anything but snow !

I finally finished my love notes box and now I can not wait to fill it up with more post cards. I have been having so much fun with these and they are going to make some great birthday cards as well as just because cards. I know there is no way that I could get away with mailing them as they are very chunky, so they will have to be hand delivered.

We got the shipment in of the Ranger Distress Stains in on Monday and I can not wait to get the chance to play with them. Tim has a video on his blog that shows how to work with them, and I am sure that Laura will be giving us a lesson on them too.

Some of the New Petaloo has shipped and when I did the tracking they are due to arrive on Saturday !!

It has been so long since we ordered it is hard to remember what we purchased but I am sure that once I open the box I will remember how beautiful they were and why we ordered what we did.

I also want to mention that if you purchased the Tattered Angels Timeless Romance stamps and are having a tough time finding a large enough clear stamping block, well no worries we found some and the are now available in the store. That post card stamp is pretty big and we have had some request to find the blocks so we did !!

I just love it when I hear the door bell ring and it is not only UPS but FedEx Too!!!

One of the boxes was filled with lots of replenishing supplies that have been in great demand, such as the box feet, the cordless glue gun, lavish trimmings, and ribbon (plus a couple of new items too).

The second box was filled with some of the new Sizzix dies that have started to ship (sorry non of the Tim Dies are shipping yet) but the ones that are shipping are really nice and a couple of them have my name written all over them and Barrie's written on others. The one I am anxious to work with, well the two really, are the accordion fold flowers and the mini envelope. They are adorable and I am a mini envelope lover!!! I can make them to fit little thank you cards for in our packages !!!

We also received an e-mail today that said that Petaloo is now shipping the new flowers that we ordered so we are anxiously awaiting for those to arrive and let me assure you that they are very beautiful and will make you happy just like they did us when we spied them.

These are just a few of them and the rest are just as beautiful !!!!

We will let you know when they arrive !!

Coming up for air

The last two weeks have been incredibly busy packing orders and working on getting everything done.

We are amazed at the number of wonderful people that are ordering from us and we appreciate each and every order we get. We hope we are living up to your expectations !!

We have finally gotten in a couple of things that we ordered at CHA. The Punch bunch punches are here and we ordered them because they are the punches that are used in both of the flower books by Susan Tierney Cockburn. The ones we chose to start with will make some of the best loved flowers and with the instructions in the book they are easy to make and look so beautiful. We will add more of the punches as we go so that you can make every flower imaginable.

We also received the Glitz papers. YIPPIE SKIPPIE!!! There are three lines, Afternoon Muse, Love Games and Lace With Grace and these are so beautiful and fun. The colors are amazing and the patterns are fun too. Be sure to check them out and let us know what you think of them.

We should be getting in our Ranger order this week and can not wait to get our hands on the new distress stains, and from the questions we have gotten it seems as if there are a lot of you anxiously awaiting them to arrive too.

We are finding it hard to keep things in stock as our suppliers are out of so many things when we order and we then have to try and order things from several different companies. Some of what we order we get in rather quickly, but others take a week or more to arrive. Sure wish they were as quick to ship as we are LOL. We will be increasing the number of things we order as we are finding that our demand is increasing, just hope that our suppliers are able to provide us what we need. Guess this is kinda like having growing pains, but we are adjusting and learning along the way. Please be patient with us as we are working hard to get it right.

One of the things I would also like to mention is that I spend Wednesday of each week with my Mom so I do not get any orders packed until I get home from there, but don't let this stop you from ordering on Wednesdays as I do get them packed and invoiced.

This day is very important to me, as my mother is the most important person in my life (second to my loving husband) and having a day with her each week not only makes me happy, but it delights her too. She is a cancer survivor, and each and every day I have with her is precious to me.

Post Card Fun

Post cards are probably one of those things that everyone has either received one or sent one. I know we have always had a rule in our house that if you go somewhere, you have to send a post card home. We have gotten them from all of the places we have traveled, even if we didn't send them, but just bought them as a keepsake. Now to be able to make them is so fun, and I am sure that I am hooked to say the least.

I have been using the Maraposa papers as I had a small stack that was not being used. On this one, I took the Birdcage die cut, sprayed it with forever red perfect pearls mist and set it over the image of the bird on the paper, I used a stamp I had on the left side that had the word gratitued on it, then I strung the vine ribbon through the holes in the bottom of the bird cage, added some mini flowers, pearl centers, and a chain that runs from the top of the bird cage around the side of the post card. Of couse I inked all edges with distress ink

The back was stamped with the Tattered Angels Timeless Romance Stamp. I then cut out one of the stamps from the K&Company Lifes Journey Stamp papers, and used a Quickutz Die to cut out the postage stamp shape ( you can also use decorative scissors to get the same effect) Then I used one of the Post Card word stamps from Tim Holtz along with the date stamp and cancelation stamp from the TA stamp set. I free handed (with help with my clear stamping block) the lines. And of course all the edges are inked to give it that vintage look.

Once again I have used the Mariposa paper, and simply added a Petaloo color me crazy flower that was sprayed with Chalk, chalkboard glimmer mist, then added a 3-d flower (sizzix) three feathers, a Petaloo Butterfly, and then the heart lock and key (Martha Stewart Punch) I had to add some stickles to the flower, butterfly and the lock and keys to give it that bling look!

The back of this one is done the same way as the previous one.

And last but not least

This one is again using the Mariposa papers, but I stamped the Heart and Key from the Timeless Romance Stamp set on it, then added 3 of the roses from the Je t'Adore Rose Cream

Ribbon. I added 2 feathers, and then set the bird from the bird cage die. The bird is sprayed with GM and then sparkled with stickles. The word love and the dots were added using a pearl pen, which stays glossy and dimensional !! I also could not belive how fast it dried.

Back Up And Going

Wow it has been a rough few days but I think I am back up and going and the worst of the flu is behind me. Thank you all for your well wishes and understanding about the orders being slow to go out. I should be all caught up by tomorrow and things should be back to normal.

We are expecting that the Tattered Angels Timeless Romance Stamps have either shipped or are shipping out on Monday so we will have plenty more in stock for everyone. We are also excited to be getting the Punch Bunch Punches, and books in and we are also expecting them to arrive some time this coming week. These punches follow the books (Paper Garden & Paper Bouquet), also shipping this week. We know that the McGill punches are also very close to the ones in the book, so if you prefer those punches we will have both of them to choose from.

So with that said, and it being 3 pm on Sunday February 6th and the Super Bowl commercials will be starting soon, I wish you all a good week and hope that what ever team your cheering for you enjoy the game !!

We are all home safe and sound and I know I am happy to be here. The hubbie was happy to see me, and of course Sam our pup was ecstatic too, but I think more of that was for the fact that now he will not have to be torn away from his friend the heater at 4:30 in the morning to go out and do his business.

We were all a tad bit concerned when we were checking into the airport that our bags would be over the weight limit, as we brought home a ton of catalogs for future shopping and they weigh a ton.

We placed several orders with companies such as

Spellbinders, Pink Paisley, Petaloo, Glitz Design, Ranger, Punch Bunch & Sizzix

We have plans with products from other companies, but until we actually figure out what those projects are, we are waiting to order so we can get exactly what you will need.

Spending time with Barrie and Laura was amazing, and we had quite a few giggle fests, which is cleansing for the soul to say the least. We spent a lot of time brain storming, bouncing ideas off of each other and it really is wonderful how we all think in the same color, and can start with A and end up with Z and never loose the original vision. All we can say is hold on to your paper trimmer girls, this year is going to rock !!!

For the most part we were disappointed in the fact that the show had nothing to offer that left us breathless and having to pick ourselves up off the floor. I am sure that the companies are facing the same economical challenges that the rest of us have faced and they have pared back as well. They seem to have been expanding on the products that are out on the market and are popular, and revisiting them in different shapes, sizes and colors. But you know we can make that all work for some amazing things.

We really did enjoy meeting Tim, and he is as nice in person as he is on his videos and in his classes, but the best thing that happened this week end for me, was to be able to once again spend a few days with Barrie, as she is the best person in the world, and getting to know Laura better. These are two amazing Ladies, with hearts the size of the universe and I am totally blessed to be able to call them friends !!!

Punch Bunch Flowers

Getting Ready for Day 3

We are almost ready to head out and get day 3 started. Today is the day that we get serious about doing our ordering, and get things done. We do spend the first 2 days scouring the show room floors for new items, old items revisted and making an over all plan as to which direction we are going to go. This year it has been fun to have Laura with us, as we do see things in a different light when there is a designer in the mix. We are able to all work together and and make sure that we have the best of the best in store for all of you. We will be sure to have the items that she is using, as well as add on items that you can use to let your own imagination soar when working on your projects. We will spend most of today sitting with reps, filling out paperwork and it is really amazing how long that takes to get done.

We have run into a few people who have been fans of Laura's and customers of ours and that is a humbeling to say the least. We appreciate all of you who support our efforts, you are the heart and soul of what we do. Blessings to you all, and enjoy some of the pictures that we have taken.

After getting off the ground in Seattle a tad bit late we had an uneventful flight and made it to the Hotel only by the grace of Laura's phone cuz the shuttle driver had no clue where we were going and Laura found the directions on her I phone! We headed right over to the convention center and of course went to Tim's booth to see Laura's masterpieces and believe me they are much better in person. Tim was there and we got to get hugs and chat with him for a bit and of course he gushed over Laura and her talent and it is well deserved.

There are so many things to see and we have not even seen the half of it, and to day we will make our way around to see more of the items we think we want to bring in. The trend seems to be dresses this year, and we are amazed at the different designs of them. I will try to snap a few pictures of some of them today as we snoop around.

So, not many pictures to share from yesterday, but we are more focused today and will make sure you get a better idea of the things we are seeing and loving !!!

Two More Wake Ups

Wow only two more wake ups and we are on our way to California!!! There is so much still to do before we go, not to mention packing. We are trying to get all of the orders shipped out by tomorrow as that will be the last day we ship until we return next week. If you have an order that you have not yet paid the shipping invoice on, then can we urge you to do so that we can get it sent out with our other ones tomorrow?

We will be posting pictures and blogging along the way so you can all share in the fun of seeing the new products being released. Most of what we will be seeing are things that will not ship out right away and the only memory we will have are the pictures and the receipt of payment, and from those we will try to remember what it is that we ordered when and which company will ship when and what project we thought we ordered for. Gosh it already makes my mind hurt, but then I am blond and it does not take much to do that !!!

I thought maybe I could get a news letter written for this Tuesday, but I am not sure that is going to happen so we may end up skipping a week on that, but we shall see, I still have a few hours left to try and get that done too. I love doing the news letter and I may not be able to face missing a week.

Goodbye to a Dear Friend

Yesterday I sent an email out to one of our regular customers. We hadn't heard from her since Christmas and usually she either places an order or writes us an email at least once a week. So I emailed her to see if she was ok and just to chat in general. Right after I sent that email...within minutes...Carol called me and asks..."have you talked to Ruth lately?" I said that I would give her a call if I didn't hear from her by morning. So ...I got up and sat down with my morning coffee and answered the seventy some emails I had awaiting,,,but alas none were from Ruth. So I called the phone number we have on file only to find it disconnected . I called Laura and asked her if she had talked to Ruth (she had not) and to see if she had a current phone number. Laura hasn't heard from Ruth either so she suggested I "Google" her to try and get a current phone number. Well...there it was... and it hit me in the gut like a boulder...Ruth's Obituary. OMG!! Our Dear friend passed away on Dec 13th ...and we are so...so sad. We have only known Ruth for the past 6 months...but like all of you ...she was much more than a customer or a follower of the show. She was part of our "family". We have told all of you so many times that you all are very dear to us and we think of you as part of this family...this community of ladies that lead with our hearts. We can only hope we have touched your lives as you all have blessed ours. Ruth definitely brought joy to us in every email. She was always so witty and fun. She loved to tell how her Grandson would help her scrap and how she enjoyed making things for him. She would always have him cut the chipboard for her....We will miss you Lovely Lady....this has been a sad..sad day for us. You will remain forever in our hearts.

Why we do what we do

I needed to repost this, as it really shows us what a little bit of kindness can mean to someone. You just never know.

I have sort of been out of the loop with major medical emergencies and I had no idea I won anything. Imagine my surprise when I received a package in the mail. Actually it wasn't a surprise, it was a huge blessing, one that I needed in a big way. Let me explain: On Christmas Day I got a call that my Mom was being taken by ambulance to the hospital with chest pains, she was in critical condition. I flew to FL the next day as my Mom was going to need bypass surgery. Upon arriving in FL, I received a a message saying that now my son had an emergency. He had been taken by ambulance to the hospital with severe stomach pain. He had a gall stone that was blocking his bile duct. This was incredibly upsetting as my son was scheduled to have sugery on his jaw in a few days. This surgery had already been rescheduled twice, it was to repair a broken jaw. He would have his jaw wired for 8 weeks with this surgery.
My Mom had a triple bypass on Dec. 29th, my son had gallbladder surgery on Dec.30th. My Mom's surgery was very critical. The dr's kept telling us that she might not survive the surgery. Thank God she did survive and she is doing a lot better then expected.
My son finally had his jaw surgery Tuesday Jan 11th. I returned from seeing him at the hospital and I had this wonderful package greeting me. I was a little confused, I didn't think I had an outstanding order. Imagine my surprise at receiving this. I had been so busy, so concerned for my loved ones that I didn't think about New Year's or any kind of celebration. Wow, the timing could not have been better. I so needed a pick me up, a stress reliever and I received it from you guys. I told you a long story but I wanted you to know how much of a gift you sent me. Thank you for being such givers, you just never know what effect it will have on the receiver. Barrie and Carol, you are blessings!

Happy Tuesday or maybe Wednesday depending on where you are or when you read this.

I can not believe that there is only 18 more wake ups to go until we are on our way to CHA !!

I am so excited this year to be not only going with Barrie, but also with Laura. The chance for all of us to be together in one place for 4 days is going to be wonderful. I am sure we will all be lacking in sleep by the time we make it home on the 1st of February, but it will be so worth it. We can not wait to see what the industry has to offer this year, and according to what we hear it is suppose to be even bigger and better than last year. Another bonus is that we are going to be able to see Laura's creations in T!m's booth. From what she has been able to share with us (which is really nothing at all sob sob), she is very excited about the way things are turning out and she thinks she will knock Tim's socks off !!

I have been working on a little project for each of us to have with us at the show. We took notebooks last year that were decorated, and they came in so handy that I thought I would make each of us one again for this year. They are incomplete right now, as I am pondering some ideas on how to finish them up. Here they are so far and I will post the finished products when I get them done. It is amazing how beautiful you can make a simple composition book look with a bit of papers, lace,some glitter and a few die cuts.

We have gotten most of the New Years prizes sent out and thank goodness that Barrie and I had just about equal amounts to ship so neither one of us was totally overloaded. What a Great Show

We just finished with the U Stream Show with Laura at Following the Paper Trail and it was amazing !!!

We had over 2000 people signed in at one time and Tim Holtz even popped in to say hello. Laura gave away some amazing prizes including the Vagabond die cutting Machine, and she was even able to do with while Tim was on the chat with us. Barrie and I were able to give away 100 prizes, some big some little but all of them were give with love !!! We had over 1000 people sign up for the give aways, and we took all the names and put them into random imager and had them pick the number of names that we had prizes for, as that just seemed easier than having 1000 + little pieces of papers in a basket ! We hope you all had as good of time as we did. We are blessed to have so many wonderful customers, that are also our friends too !!! I can not wait to see what happens in the New Year, and if the last year was any indication then we are going to love love love it.

To Give...

This is the time of year for giving. Everyone bustling about...searching for just the right gift for Aunt Jane or cousin Bob. Christmastime has become so commercial over the years and It has become more of a "chore" and an obligation. Over the last four or five years I have really changed my buying habits because of the terrible economic downturn and I am sure it has been the same for many people. We simply don't have the extra money to spend on gifts for everyone...especially those obligatory gifts for relatives we only see once a year and hardly know. You wind up buying something...anything so you aren't empty-handed at the family gathering. Many of us are now making gifts for family and friends. paper crafting has gotten so sophisticated...so intricate...so beautiful ...that giving a handmade gift these days is really something to be cherished. I know Carol made about fifteen or so...little Post-It notebooks for all the girls/ladies in her family. Not only were they absolutely adorable but they were a useful gift that every recipient will cherish and use for a long time. And she is proud to show and give the beautiful things she has made...not bought. In each little notebook was a piece of herself...a little piece of her heart....so much better that a cheese log from the mall.

Every year for the last decade or so I have participated in a program called the "LoKahi Tree" It is a program sponsored and run by the Salvation Army where you volunteer to make Christmas happen for a family that just can't afford gifts for their children . I have always drawn a family with two kids and I have enjoyed buying all kinds of (useful) gifts for them to open on Christmas morning. Although they mainly need clothes and shoes I would always try to give that one special gift that would make their eyes light up on Christmas morning. The boys usually wanted boogie boards or skateboards and the girls wanted clothes and MP-3 players and download cards.Then for the parents...really the whole family ...I would load them up with groceries so they would have a Holiday Feast. I used to go all out for my elected families and the feeling I would get from doing all this was the most wonderful , warm and deeply fulfilling feeling I have ever experienced. The feeling of making someone else happy...of making someone else's day a little brighter. These last few years have been hard on me and everyone around me and even though I can't afford to do things like I used to I still manage to participate in the "LoKahi Tree" . I have come to the realization that I do this as much for the families as I do for myself. I always find if I am feeling down or sad or overwhelmed...the greatest cure is to reach out and do something nice for someone else.

I hope all of you will take the time to give to others this Holiday Season. As scrappers we are naturally givers ...it is a quality deep within us...So reach out to someone. .. you might really be surprised at the difference such a small gesture can make in another person's life ...and in yours....After all...to "give" is really to receive....

We are getting Closer !!

We are so close to hitting the 200 followers on our blog and we can not wait to hit that magic number and send one of you a Distezz-it-All !!! We are blessed to be one of your blog buddies and I am going to make it a priority to make sure we do more on the blog in the new year. The last half of this year has been an adjustment period for both Barrie and I. We have teamed up with Following The Paper Trail and in that time our business has exploded and for this we are so very thankful. We are almost transitioned over to having all of the products in one place so that we are able to ship everything in one package, but there are still a few things that Barrie will be sending until her inventory is depleted and we have it all here in Washington. We love being able to send a personal touch with each order. and from the comments we have gotten, you all seem to like it too. We will continue to do that no matter how busy we get. That is who we are and just what we do.

We have also finalized our arrangements for attending CHA in January and we are all so excited. Laura, Barrie And I will be on the hunt for all the great new products that will be there. We will be doing daily updates while we are there, and I do believe that Laura is planning on doing some kind of show from there too. There is always so much to see, make and takes to do, and new companies to discover !! I think I just may go and pack my bags now.

I have been working on a few more Christmas gifts and for my Oldest son I have made him a canvas that has pictures of him and his kids out hiking and fishing. He took them to the place that we always went camping when he and his brother were young. I think he will like it, although it is simple and not too ornate

I used a large canvas, sprayed it with Several of the Perfect Pearls mists (hard to see that) and then inked the edges with Ranger Distress ink, I backed the photos, which are printed out on Bazzill Paper& inked the edges with distress ink , onto black chipboard to give it some dimension, and then sprayed the chipboard letters with Perfect Pearls mist and inked those edges as well. The Trees are a Sizzix die cut, and they are sprayed with Glimmer Mist and Maya Mist, and then covered with crackle paint. The stick is one that they brought back from their hike and it is attached using hot melt glue. I think it looks very rustic and fits the pictures too !!

So, that is another one of my Christmas Projects and I can not wait for him to open it !!

Enjoying Your Notes

We are so happy and amazed at the number of people that have signed up for our New Years Eve Give Away so far. We love reading your comments and know, that each and every one of them have made us smile. We are also seeing that there are a ton of very generous people in our group and we want to thank you for your offers of donating items for the give away, but we have this planned as our way of saying thank you all for your love and support of Following The Paper Trail and Scrapadabadoo. We will try to plan things later in the year that we can take you all up on your wonderful offers. Believe us when we say thank you. We are also only 41 people away from our 200 followers on our blog and I am not sure if some of you know this, but we will be giving one of you a Distrezz-it-All when we hit that magic number. We would also love it if you would add our blinking to your blog, share us with your family and friends and make sure you leave some comments along the way !! There is a post earlier in the year as to how you can get your name added more than once, so look back to August under the title of Our new look and find out how you can get your name in more than once too !!
We are seeing that our new chipboard die cuts are flying out the door so you must be liking them. We have a ton of the sizzix dies available to us, so if there are other shapes you would like to see us do please just let us know. We can do special orders on them as well if you are doing a project and need several of them, just let us know what you want and we will get you a price and the cost of shipping on it.
Are any of you following the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas again this year. I am always so amazed at his creativity and how he can make things come to life. I never in my life would have used the rickety house into a Christmas project, or used the branches on the tree for the reindeer antlers. Talk about getting me thinking out side of my box.
I have made another Kaiser Craft Box for my Daughter in law for Christmas, and I am thinking that she is going to be so happy. She seems to have a need to touch mine and open the drawers every time she comes over, and so, she will have her own that looks pretty much the same as mine does. I did make the flowers using the Tim Holtz Grunge Rose out of canvas and they turned out wonderfully !!! Here is what it looks like

Scrap IN the New Year!!!

Now that Thanksgiving has passed we start getting ready for Christmas and saying good-bye to a very grueling 2010. I don't know about the rest of you but I am anxious for a new chapter...a new year...a fresh start. 2010 has been a tough year for me and for Carol and we are looking forward to what this new year has to offer. Things seem to be turning around slowly. Of course it will take a while for the West Coast to feel some relief...but knowing it's coming offers some much needed hope.

On to the good stuff....

Some of you have heard Laura and us talking about having a New Year's Eve Party on the Friday nite show. Well...we are gearing up to scrap the nite away. She may even go three hours ...depending on the attendance....so mark your calendars and grab you paper, tools and snax...and get ready for a wild night!!! We want to give all of you ...our faithful followers a special treat...a night just for you. We have the greatest group of ladies (and a few gents). We are so very grateful for each and every one of you. So ...Laura, Carol and I have been scheming and planning a night full of projects and prizes. There will be tons of give-aways...and these will all be really cool items. Laura will be giving away some of "Laura's Favorite Things"...you know...those items you see sitting on her desk show.. after show...after show. We will be dropping hints... And Carol and I will be giving away lots of your favorite things...like a Pink ATG and some "Timmy stuff" just to mention a few There will be some more hints in the days to come so keep checking here and Laura's blog...(her link is on the sidebar)...to see what some of the other prizes will be and how you will have to enter to participate in drawings.

We were trying to figure a way for everyone to participate in the fun...so we are going to have everybody sign up to put your name on the master list ...just for that night. We will pick names randomly from that list only....so if you don't sign up ...you won't be included. This way you won't need to be on the show to win. You won't need to be on the chat to win. We will include our International ladies (and gents...Steven)Hopefully this way will keep the chat sane that nite...hahaha!!!...and give everyone a chance to win something AWESOME! Oh No Snow !!!!

Yesterday it began to snow in the morning and was still going at 9pm last night. We only ended up with a little over 2" but it was enough for the Grand kids to go out and play in. They had a blast and came in freezing !!! Of course today all schools are closed, and I think it is wise as the main roads get sanded but the back roads are not, and even with them sanding it is still ugly! It took my Hubie over 3 hours to drive home last night, a trip that normally takes him 1 hour at the most. Today we are at 13 degrees so all that snow is now ice. Sounds like a great day to get started on my Christmas cards & maybe I can get the grand kids to help me, or I am sure I can find something crafty for them to do.

I have been busy adding some great products to the store and you can find them under the what's new category. The two new charm packs are so adorable, and the fairy pack will go great with the mini that Laura Denison is going to be making. We also have the Making Memories Noel Christmas Papers in and they are wonderful. We will also be adding some more Graphic 45 Christmas Past paper packs later today, but this will be all we will be able to get, as they are not making any more and they are pretty well sold out of it.

Busy Busy Busy

Things have been so busy that I have hardly had a chance to even think about updating the blog, which is shame shame shame on me. Scrapadabadoo is growing by leaps and bounds and we are so delighted. We have had a great response to our store news letter, and I hope you all have signed up to receive it. We are always on the prowl for people to submit their projects for our Customer Spotlight, so if you have a project that you would like to share with us please let us know as we would love to show your work and inspire all of our followers. We also are looking for tips and techniques, recipes and if you would like to see or write a product review we would love that too !!

I am almost finished with some of my little gifts that I give to the girls of the family and I have had a lot of fun putting them together. I started with the Memo holder cut from chipboard, then covered with different pattern papers. I then added rub ons for the word notes on each one, added a flower and bling, then a simple ribbon handle. I found the post it notes at Costco and they had a big package for about $16 and I had more than enough for the 15 of these that I made. I think the ladies will love them !!

Have you started your Christmas Crafts, Cards, or gifts ?? We would love to see what your doing and when it comes time for decorating, we would enjoy seeing that too. I guess it is about time to let the season begin.

Today is one of those stay at home kind of days, as it is pouring down rain, the wind is blowing, and it is just plain icky outside. We really have had some nice fall weather for the last couple of weeks, but as one of my friends said, well the rain is coming and now it will be here till July. Well that's just Washington State for ya!

I am going to be working on getting some cards made, thank you cards that we send out with our orders. I can not seem to keep up with them, which is a really good thing. I would really like to also get started on a few of my Christmas gifts too because there is only 61 days left before it is here. Yikes!!

Speaking of Christmas, we just got in a few of the Sizzix & Tim Holtz Christmas dies, reindeer,snowflakes, ornaments and a couple of the on the edge dies. There is also some of the Sizzix Christmas embossing folders too, that will make beautiful backgrounds for your Christmas cards. The K&Co Christmas papers are so beautiful as are the Kaiser Craft ones and the Cosmo Cricket and Memory Box..... oh so many to choose from !!! We have so many new things in the store and we also now have a clearance category where you can get some great prices on things.

If you are a follower of Following The Paper Trail, Laura has moved her show from last Friday to this Wednesday due to her daughter having been in the hospital. If you have not had the pleasure of watching Laura you should really check her out as she does some amazing things. We have a link to her Ustream channel on the blog and you can watch the older shows and then join her this Wednesday live!!!

Well, better get moving as the days go by so fast that I end up not getting done the things that I want to do.

Great Gift Ideas !!

When we went to CHA last year, one of the make and take projects was this wood memo board.

We fell in love with it as there were so many possibilities for it. You can paint the wood frame, stain it, spray it, stamp it and more. The Insert is a write on wipe off board that is also magnetic !!

Happy October !!

September is gone and I am not sure how it zipped by so quickly. We had such a busy month with the store and have been doing some rearranging and making more room for more product. Barrie continues to find the best things and I am always amazed at the beauty of the papers and products that arrive. We have so many new things in and some of my favorite things are: the new Punky Sprouts Books as they look like so much fun to create with. The Three new ones we have added are the Junk In my Trunk, Spunky Sprout & the Sweetie Sprout. These books are made in the USA and have so many fun pages. FINALLY!!! They Are Here!!!

After being out of stock since April...the Tim Holtz "Tattered Florals" they have arrived. They are available in our store in limited quantities...so if you want one... you'd better get it now! The same goes for the "Tattered Leaves". Those too, are in limited supply and when they run out...they will be difficult to get. Sizzix has said they will have more after the first of the year...but with the difficulty they have had with the manufacturer this may not be the case.

I just want to thank Carol for the wonderful job she did producing our first Newsletter! I think she did an outstanding job and I look forward to the next one.

For those you who have signed up...thanks! All The Beautiful New Punches

Ok...I admit it! I am a punch-a holic! I love punches. They just keep making more and more beautiful and detailed punches. First... Martha Stewart started off with her frilly, loopy, swirly, lacy border punches. Then they added in the corners for the punch around the page look. When those first came out they never included the dimensions needed to make the punch designs work properly for an all around border. So ...finally they put the measurements on the website and eventually included them in each package....yay!!!

Now there is another problem. With all the new intricate designs they really don't make very clear...that on these type punches...they are NOT meant for cardstock!!! They should never be used for Bazzill cardstock...or anything heavier than 65#, light weight cardstock or text weight paper. You can use up to 100# text weight paper. If your punch doesn't willingly cut thru your paper... then DO NOT force it. You will break your punch.. Test your punch on a scrap of the same weight before you try to punch your piece because you will make a mess of the piece of paper that doesn't cut and you will probably have to tear it out of the punch..

The bigger design punches and all your basic shapes ones are fine for heavier paper and cardstock. Those will punch all day long and those are fine to use with the Punch Pal or any such helper. But never use any helper device with the new detailed punches.This goes for any manufacturer's punches...not just Martha's.

I have wanted to post this hint for a while now and I was prompted when a customer emailed me to say that she had broken her punch. I thought I better put this up now so no one else ruins a very expensive punch. If anyone has a question or needs more info ...please email us. We will be glad to help you with this or any other questions you might have. After all...it is our many years of experience that has taught us many helpful hints and tips...so feel free to pick our brains.

New Dies Have Arrived

Have you been wanting some of the new Sizzix Dies by Tim Holtz ? Well we just got a partial shipment of our order and have added them to the website but you better hurry in as Ruth is buying them up faster than I can get them listed.... We did get plenty of the Paper Rosette Border Die,

and the Tattered Leaves

Of course we got a few of the Halloween dies, but not as many as we had hoped to

and only one of the on the edge dies arrived

but we did get in several of the Embossing folders and those are very nice !

We have had some issues with our shipping and we apologize if it has been confusing for you.

We do not add shipping to the orders simply for the fact that we were having to refund so many shipping fees that it was just easier for us to bill the shipping fees after the order was pulled, packed and we knew what the shipping was going to be. We do send a second invoice from our Pay Pal, and if by chance you do not see that invoice within a couple of days, please check your junk e-mail or your pay pal account to see if it is there. We really do try to ship the best way possible and when possible we try to use flat rate boxes and envelopes. We are finding that this may not be the best way to ship our papers and chipboard as some of them have been getting damaged along the way (Thank you USPS) We may have to charge a bit more in shipping for these items, but we would much rather have them arrive in one piece and with all the corners in tact !!

We are working on a news letter which may be a better way to stay in touch, so if your interested in getting our news, you can either sign up here on the blog or you can find it in the store at the bottom of the front page.
